Tattoo Behind Your Ear?
Anybody have one? Was it more or less painful than others you have gotten? I've been dragging my feet on a tattoo, even though I want one. I just don't know where. I was thinking my wrist but all those veins there freak me out. The tattoo I want is small enough that it could fit tucked behind my ear. This is not the tattoo I want, but about the size and the location.

I do- I have a paw print and it was by far the least painful one I've gotten. I have 6 in total, and the one behind my ear was over and done in about 15 minutes.

Re: Tattoo Behind Your Ear?
I have one (a tiny 'om') & I love it. It is the one I get the most compliments on. I've had it since the early 90s, so my recollection of the experience is not the best. I do remember it being very annoying, for lack of a better word. It took 3 or 4 hands to do- I had my face on the table, with my (now ex-) husband holding my head still & my ear forward & the artist doing his thing. I also remember feeling like head was vibrating. The tattoo is very small, so what ever discomfort was short-lived. I have to say, the one on the inside of my wrist was not too terrible, pain-wise. The tattoo location that was the most painful, for me, was the top of my foot. Hope this helps...

Re: Tattoo Behind Your Ear?
Thanks guys! I'm not TOO surprised that it's not painful but I can imagine it being annoying and uncomfortable. I have two tattoos (shoulder and low back) and they were pretty painless. I just remember the feeling like my bones were vibrating so I can imagine that's tenfold for behind the ear. Haha I didn't think of the logistical issues of having to hold your head still and ear forward but it makes sense! I'll be with my sister anyway (she's going to be getting one as well) so at least she can help hold me down! lol! And like you both said it'll probably be done in 15 minutes where my other tats took about 45 minutes or an hour. They are pretty small and simple, too.
Eek the foot! That's a pretty veiny/sensitive spot, too. I could see that being pretty bad.

Tattoo Behind Your Ear?
I don't have one behind my ear but I do have one on each wrist and one on the top of my foot. The one on top of my foot by far was most painful but not all that bad. It was my first tattoo so I had nothing to compare it to. The ones on my wrists are small and were done very quickly and painless. HTH!
What are you thinking about getting?

I'm thinking of getting a bow. I'm obsessed with them. I have a necklace from Swarovski that I wear all the time. This is actually the third incarnation of it since I wear them so often that the crystals all fall out. I'm just not sure if I want it to be really simple in black and white or have a bit more detail in color. I think I'm leaning towards color.

Oh I love that idea! I would lean towards color too. I just wonder how hard it will be to protect it while you are showering and washing your hair.

Yeah, the first week I'd probably just keep my hair up and not bother with drying it or anything. I have to make sure I get it right after I get my hair cut/colored so it has time to heal before I start putting some chemicals on my head. Though all my tattoos have healed REALLY well and really quickly. I barely bleed and have never scabbed. My friend and I got our first tattoos together and hers was a mess the first few weeks. Mine was fine. And we got them in the same spot.

Typically skull tattoos hurt, however I think since you don't want something really big, it shouldn't be too bad. It's a matter of size which will dictate how long it takes to tattoo the design and how heavy is the hand of your artist.
