Tax Credit for Home Improvements
Is everyone aware of the tax credit available for certain improvements done in 2009? Check out energy star's website for more info!! (certain windows, doors, central air)
I am getting a $1,500 tax credit!!!! Yeah!

I am getting a $1,500 tax credit!!!! Yeah!
I looked into this recently... Yes, its a tax credit but it is non-refundable... meaning you dont just automatically get 1500 in a check to you like you would with the 1st time homebuyer 8k credit... It gets taken off the amt that you owe the govt... For example, if you end up owing them 1000, the credit would reduce how much you owe down to 0, but you dont get that extra 500 in a check to you... hope this makes sense...
Im looking into buying a wood stove which gives the same 1500 tax credit and thought the same thing as you... I called directly to ask how it works and was told the above...
