Does anybody know how to file a tax grievance in Suffolk County on your own?

Re: Tax Grievance in Suffolk?
I hired the Mark Lewis agency. They're located in Centereach. They got me a reduction of about $1800 a year. It cost me $900 plus some fees, but the reduction is good for life so the $900 was money well spent.

Re: Tax Grievance in Suffolk?
I don't know, but someone in early 2007 grieved their own taxes and reviewed everything on LIF home board. Try a search on just home from 1/1/07 to 3/31/07 and use key word tax grievance and something should come up to help those of you who don't want to use mark lewis.

Re: Tax Grievance in Suffolk?
I just went to my town hall today (Huntington) and they said at the end of March/beginning of April they will have a "dummy" application that you can use to work off of and that the third Tuesday of May will be when you can grieve. She said it's going to be a lot of people, since house prices have gone down.
I had two original (no updates) houses sell recently in my neighborhood, so I definitely will use them as comps! Also - the woman at Town Hall said they don't come by your house to assess, they just go by comps.

Re: Tax Grievance in Suffolk?
I wish it was that easy! Our house, since december 06, is being assessed for $100K more than we paid, and $80k more than it appraised for.
SOmeone is selling their house around the block, and pays less taxes for a larger house with an inground pool. we have a larger lot. but not by much.
and our grievance was denied.
