Taxes - getting less back this year cause of the extra money in paychecks from Obama
Anyone else discover this?
Oh well, thought my check would be bigger than it is .

It's all a big scam by Obama and his people.
He gave is a little "treat" to start with, yet we will all be paying for it down the road.
Did anyone else notice they are taking out more tax starting this past Jan 1st? My paycheck went down about $10-15 dollars, probably because the taxes went up so they have to withhold more.

When it was announced last year, they said they were just withholding less but the tax rate was staying the same. That was why I just added it right back through payroll as an additional withholding.

we are getting back a little less than we expected, but it was just a total guess and wasn't really based on anything.
I'm not sure how it ties in to Obama, but if you're getting back less in your refund check because you got more throughout the year, isnt that a good thing? Why give the government an interest free loan? We are getting a substantial refund this year because we each worked half-year or less but were taxed as if we worked a full year, but in the future I hope to minimize my refund because I'd rather hold on to my money than overpay and be reimbursed...

Well when I started getting a cple extra bucks in my check I realized that with DH and my joint income we would have to give back at the end of the year bc combined we make over the cap of what makes a person eligable...but solo I qualify...
We are getting our taxes done monday so I guess I will see then...

Actually, in 2010 the tax brackets shifted slightly in favor of the taxpayers. If, for example, you had $100k of taxable income in '09 you paid more tax on that $100k in '09 than you will in '10.
There must be some other factor(s) that made your refund less this year.

Definitely not a scam.
There was a federal tax that was suspended while Bush was in office. It was a tax that actually allowed more money in our paychecks. This expired Jan. 1st so now we have more money being taken out of our checks. There were other taxes suspended as well that will expire in 2012 & 2013. This means we will have MORE money taken out then.

Well I personally knew there wasn't any free money. The scam comment was very tongue in cheek.
I am just counting the days till this administration is out of office. Hopefully Obamacare scared enough people to vote to the right in 2012.

and these tax credits with experation dates were set while the Congress was in Republican control, so imo, it's a little far fetched to say that the current President has been conspiring and is pulling a bait and switch.

Obama isn't doing any better or worse in my mind then any other "average" president. I don't think he is god nor did I expect him to be. But i have to say I personally will punch  anyone who vote's for Palin if she runs next election. I don't care who you vote for as far as parties (never vote on party alone -i base my vote on who i think would do a better job) but this see you next tuesday is a freaking joke.

And I love how easily people forget how poorly the country was doing even before Obama stepped into office. I mean, seriously, the country was F-ed before and would still be F-ed if anyone else was in his office. Our issues in this country, be them taxes or war or whatever, are not going to be solved overnight.
The tax issue is not a scam and I was not shocked when I did my taxes.

I don't think Palin would ever get the nod on the Republican ticket.
I can most definitely see Scott Brown possibly making a strong run. I mean he only took Ted Kennedy's spot, in one of the most Democratic states in the nation.
I can see the Republican party riding that wave. Do something like announce you just took Ted's senate seat and say taking the white house is next.

this might just be my 'inside the beltway' opinion on this one, but there would be a bloodbath in the GOP before Scott Brown became the nominee. The reality is that Brown won b/c you had a horrible candidate in Coakley and her lack of campaigning and then strong negative campaigning allowed him to come in. honestly, if he were to survive re-elect in 2012, I'd be shocked, even if the current admin is tanking still at that point.
Keep an eye on CPAC this weekend. I bet you his name will not be among the highest vote getters in the straw poll.

I am getting nothing back and even have to pay this year after getting at least 4-5K back the last 3 years.
I made 10k more than last year.
I don't understand what happened but I can tell you I AM NOT HAPPY.
And I thought we were golden this year bc we bought a house, sold an apartment, the real estate fees used to be deductible and now they're not. We're both paying an astronomical amount of taxes as it is. I don't understand.

DH and I file together and are getting back more in Federal but owe more in state since we made more than last year but didn't pay enough throughout the year. President Obama has nothing to do with this though...

Getting more back this year (for 2009) and we have a higher AGI from 2008. We were able to take medical deductions this year for the first time, however.
As for pay: DH's is up about $10 a check (every two weeks) and mine is down $2. I was told mine was due to an MTA tax...

I was told mine was due to an MTA tax...
FYI, that new MTA tax is the employer's liability and is not supposed to be passed down to the employee. I would double-check that.
