Teacher and MAternity leave
For those of you that are teachers in NYC, I was wondering what the maternity leave is like. How many weeks do they give you? I was told by a co worker that they don't pay you when you go on maternity leave. Is that true??

Re: Teacher and MAternity leave
During your maternity leave you technically don't get paid you use your sick days. You have six weeks or 8 depending on the type of birth. Within those 6 weeks you use your sick days. If you don't have enough you can borrow days and pay them back as you wish before you retire.

Yes, you only get paid for whatever sick days you have, and however many you can borrow. Also, I was told that it used to be 8 weeks disability for a c-section, but now you need a Dr's note if after 6 weeks you aren't fully recoverd.
