I always b!tch that this show is bad for this reason! real teens don't get paid and I feel like teens watch this show and think, if they could do it so could I, I'm in a better place, not realizing the show pays them a lot of $$! on top of the salary, they get a lot of things for free as well.
I will admit I watch it and love it, but I think its a bad influence of teens. I don't think teens see enough of the bad.

Hmmm I wonder why the teen pregnancy rate is down because if you can get that kind of $$$ and a reality show why the hell wouldn't a teenager get pregnant! That show sets such a bad example.

Stop watching the show and MTV wont' be able to pay her that money.
Seriously, I have watched the show, but now I don't turn it on.
It's crap and it only encourages teen pregnancy. Now all these girls want to be on the show.

I was shocked too when I found out how much they are making but it makes sense. MTV is making a lot of money off them so why shouldn't the girls get paid from it. I hate that a woman like Amber is getting so much money for being a horrible mother but at least the other women are getting something to put away for their future. That money train will eventually run out so I hope for their sake they're saving some of it.
MTV has to stage the show at this point b/c nobody wants to see a bunch of teen mom's running around in BMW's and living the high life b/c they're getting paid close to $300k a year. So they tell these girls to act like they are struggling. I mean come on did Farrah really have to fight to get her late baby daddy's social security benefits..but it makes for good tv so MTV makes them do these things.
It's all fake..like everything else that is on tv now a days.

I really don't get why people think this show sends teen pregnancy rates up -- especially when a report was just released that teen pregnancy is actually DOWN this year.
I don't have such little faith in all teenagers to think that they will watch a show and be so disillusioned into believing they will make $280K a year getting on that show. Anyone who thinks that would likely be a dumb@ss at any age.
Any teen I know who has seen the show, says they never really thought about how HARD it is to be a teen mom.
I TOTALLY agree with this. I know a lot of teenagers, and I can say that a majority of them are not so stupid as to think that they can get pregnant and make tons of cash on tv.
I actually tend to think this show is doing a good job at showing the reality of what it's like to have a baby.
