Teething questions...

So, he's chewing like crazy on his hands and drooling so much his clothes are drenched...

plus, we are now enjoying the late nights together (again) because he is waking up every 2 hours, squealing Chat Icon He is downing his bottles, and trying to chew on them

Now he has a runny nose and his cough has returned, but I think it may be really choking on drool....

His gums feel hard, like there is somethign uder there (and he chews on my fingers when I check) but no bumps yet, as far as I can tell...

This is all par for the course when it comes to teething, right?

Re: Teething questions...

Yup and it doesn't even necessarily mean that teeth are right around the corner. The drooling and chewing can go on for months and months before anything happens. Teething sux!!!

My son had the runny nose right before his teeth came in. He cried all the time for a week or two before that.

Yep! Sorry to say. It is all the excess saliva. he may get an ear infection also. And, like Lucky said, that does not mean the teeth are coming in the next few weeks. Could be months. Steven teethed sooooooo badly for 3 months before getting his first two teeth.Chat Icon

Oh we're in that club too. I feel like she's been teething forever. She's been teething since 3 months and she's now 7 months and nothing!

Re: Teething questions...

I took DS to the DR. 3 times since May for "congestion"..
The first two times they told me he was too young (he was 4 mos) for meds (totally understandable) and the last time we went they said its all teething related. All makes sense. All his saliva is 'pooling" and that is why he wakes up coughing.
DS will be 7 months and still has not cut a tooth. Poor kid is drooling, chomping, and wakes up coughing (it has gotten better).

Re: Teething questions...

Hmmm..How do you know ( anyone?) that its teething?

DS is 8 weeks old...obviously NOT teething yet, and he has very hard gums, drools a TON , chews on his hands all day , chews my fingers and tries to chew his bottle...Sounds like what some of you described...but we know hes not teething,,,,

Is Teething just what they assume when you put all the symptoms together?

Re: Teething questions...

MY DD started teething at 2 months old and they finally came in 5 months later, but yes, all the drooling and chewing is heading for that wonderous day!

DDs are now 9 months - they did this starting at 3 months. It tapered off for awhile, now it's just really hands in the mouth and whining sometimes. STILL NO teeth though. Chat Icon
