Teething... questions
In your experiences how long does teething last? Can fussiness go on for days in a row? Can nightwakings happen for nights in a row? It just seems this is going on forever if it is just teething......

Re: Teething... questions
Forever. Or at least it feels like that. We're finally thru the months-long saga of his first molars. I thought it would never end. The fussiness, refusal to eat, etc. The past week has been so nice having him back to normal.

Re: Teething... questions
I can't wait to have my happy little guy back, he just seems so miserable. I really hope it's only teething. Did your DCs become very clingy and just not happy, even in the daytime? How about pulling on ears, crying at times when he is usually content...ie right after he eats a bottle, waking in the middle of the night when he had been sleeping thru??? Sorry for all of the questions, since I'm a first time mommy this is a VERY scary time for me b/c I don't know what actually is wrong. He just cut his two lower teeth about a week ago... could he be teething again already, so soon???

I took him to the doctor before the bottom two teeth came through b/c I was sure he did have an ear infection, but his ears were perfectly clear. Do these things usually not happen with teething? He has never had an ear infection before.... Thanks!

With the pulling on the ears in addition to all the other symptoms you are describing, I would bring him to the doctor to see if it's his ears. Maybe he has an infection like a PP said. It's worth checking it out. I hope he's back to himself soon!

Re: Teething... questions
my dd cuts teeth one after the other. She got her 2 bottoms, then right after her top ones. Her teeth come in basically 4 at a time, so yes i think it's possible he's getting more teeth if his ears r clear.
My DD is also clingy, extra whiney, has slept through the night since 5 weeks old and woke up for teeth, she also refused bottles and now as a toddler refuses to eat.
We just got through 3 molars coming in at the same time, and now i have a bit of break, there is 1 molar and 2 canines coming now.
I found that Motrin works the best at night, i give about 1/2 hour before bed.
For during the day if she's extra extra cranky, i give tylenol, usually in the afternoon when it's the worst.
Hang in there

Ditto. He will throw the bottle/sippy cup at me, and not eat all day even when I know he's hungry. Applesauce and yogurt helped. Clingy, cranky, whiney even during the day at it's peak. Then BAM they just wake up happy again one day. Hang in there, if the ears are clear it's probably teething - they symptoms are the same (pulling on ears etc) I was SURE THere was something else wrong w/him but those molars were just killer.

How old is your DC? How long was DC struggling with teething before it was over?

Gianna is 17 months old, the molars were torturing her more than any other teeth.
Otherwise, when she was younger, she would just be a bit clingy, whiney, refusing bottles, night waking for a couple days to a week, then out popped the tooth. Then she'd go back to normal.
The molars were a good 2 weeks, the other teeth were about a week. My DD was a late teether, so when the majority of her teeth came in she was at the phase of bad separation anxiety at the same time. I don't think i slept for a good month or two. but don't worry, thats just us

He'll go back My doc stressed to comfort them at night, but don't start any habits you'll want to break when it's all over. he told me it takes 3 days for a baby to learn a habit, 2 weeks to break em
Just when you think you understood them, they go and turn everything upside down again
Hang in there mommy
