Teething VS. Cold - How to tell the difference?

I *think* DD has a cold, but am now second guessing myself thinking it's teething. She already has 8 teeth and has NEVER had any cold like symptoms before when teething.
How can you tell the difference?

I honestly couldn't tell at times. There were times when it became clear DS had a cold--really congested or he had a high fever, or the runny nose was extreme and lasted a long time. Other times, he had a runny nose and not much else, seemd like himself, but I wasn't completely sure he wasn't sick either.

The only teething symptoms any of mine had were sticking their fingers into their mouths, and running a LOW fever (not more than 100).

If there is a runny nose and higher than 100 fever, I would say its a cold, not teething.

Her temp, at it's highest, was 101.3 last night, making me think it's more than teething....but then again, who knows!

101.3 is NOT a teething temp IMO.
