Teething...how old was your child
when they started to show signs of teething? DS has two white spots on the front section of his lower gums. He has been sucking his hands like a mad-man lately and drooling along with it. He's also a lot more quiet than usual and seems to be a little more "clingy". DH brought it up to the nurse practitioner last visit and she said that it wasn't teething because that usually happens around 4 months. I would have bought that story if she had in fact looked at his mouth to confirm but she didn't. I think he is although he is handling it well so far.
Does it sound like teething? Also...I am expecting that soon it will be more painful for him...what should I have on hand to help him?
Thanks!

Re: Teething...how old was your child
I know several babies who have started to get teeth at 3 months....but I don't think there is any sort of normal age...

Re: Teething...how old was your child
Jeremy started with the signs of teething around 2 1/2 - 3 months. First tooth popped out at 4 months. He now has his 10th tooth coming in and he is 11 months

Re: Teething...how old was your child
DDs did the same thing at 3 months. I said to my ped that she didn't know what she was talking about when she said it wasn't teething. See my avatar. I guess she was right!

Re: Teething...how old was your child
It could be teething. Sometimes a child can teeth for a month or two before they get any. Then there are children that have all the signs your dc has and get teeth by the next wk.

Re: Teething...how old was your child
Thanks everyone! So what do you all suggest I have on hand to help him out (when he actually shows signs of discomfort and pain)?

HAHAHHAAHHAHA! but if that doesn't work try a home remedy which is to ring out freezing cold water from the corner of a handcloth and give to your child. this helps numb the pain a bit. i've never tried. i can only imagine how quickly the cold will change to warm after being in his mouth. also refrigerate his teething toy(s) before he uses it. good lcuk! i hear teething time's torture and i'm not looking forward to it.

Re: Teething...how old was your child
She started teething at 3 months but didn't pop a tooth until 6 months and then the next one 5 days later. Now she has 5 and she's 10 months old.
