Tell Me About Vinyl Plank Flooring
Everything I read online is positive. Relatively inexpensive, DIY, waterproof, etc. Any negatives? It seems too good to be true?, LOL!
Also, I've read that it can be installed OVER ceramic tile. Anyone done this?

Tell Me About Vinyl Plank Flooring
We have them in our basement and hate them. They are NOT waterproof. The previous owners stopped running a dehumidifier after we went into contract and in the time between that and closing (~4 weeks) all the planks were lifted around the edges. We had them re-glued and they're back up, even with a dehumidifier. Ours are over concrete. I don;t know if its the planks themselves or how they were installed but they're horrible.

I have them in my laundry room and hate them, mine are click ins though and don’t stay connected, so they break apart and it’s a pain in the ass to fix since you have to take it all apart and keep redoing it.

Re: Tell Me About Vinyl Plank Flooring
We have them in our den. Love them. We got the click in ones. The ones we have are incredible. Our contractor put the floor down. It is on a cement slab with a moisture barrier membrane underneath. It a high traffic area and we've had no issues. I think the product is good but like everything else they need to be installed properly.

Can you tell me what brand you have?

Same here for us. Click and lock ones, installed by a carpet installer. They are on a concrete slab, no barrier underneath needed. They are in a high traffic area and they are awesome. I don't know the brand, I got them at County Carpet in Syosset.

The brand is Tranquility Ultra, and we got the 5 mm thick. My contractor advised us to get the thickest flooring available. We really love it. We are re-doing our basement and putting it in that room too.

Same here, though my DH installed them since he installs wood floors for a living. We have them in the kitchen and sunroom and they are fantastic.
ETA: They were not installed over tile though- the tiles were a broken mess so we took them out.

Re: Tell Me About Vinyl Plank Flooring
We just put in a vinyl floor on Sunday in our den! So far we love it! It looks really nice, and so far all good reviews from people coming over. Dh put it in and he's never done it before, although he's really handy. We got ours from carpet express and I think the name brand is Shaw. We put it over a concrete floor and purchased the underlayment the manufacturer recommended. For a 12 by 19 room it cost us about $800.

Re: Tell Me About Vinyl Plank Flooring
I was looking into this for our basement but I came across some stuff pointing to toxic emissions from the floor due to pvc? Did anyone hear of this or address it with the place they bought it from?
