My mom is 60 and has been working with my father at the family business for over 25 years. I wish she could retire but they can't do that until they sell the biz!

My Mom who is 68 and would be sooo mad that I just posed that on the web LOL, has been a SAHM since my oldest sis was born well over 40 years ago LOL. Once I was older, and out of school since I'm the youngest, my parents started to travel in their RV for months at a time. When my Dad passed away, she joined tons of widows groups and made tons of new friends. Now, she has a boyfriend, and they go on little mini vacations all the time and just live life. They like to go to atlantic city and such.

My Mom is 66, she started out as a French teacher and then stayed home for 25 years to raise 7 children. When my youngest sister started school my Mom went back for her PhD studying Reading and specializing in "English as a second Language".
When she went back to work she taught at a local college adjunct and also taught at a local elementary school as a special Ed reading teacher. She is very passionate about her field and went on to work for the Reading Consortium of NYS (which no longer exists) helping schools to develop reading programs. She still does this work as a consultant, although he is about 75% retired 
For hobbies, she and my Dad spend time in the Adirondacks hiking and kayaking. She is also an amazing quilter, we belong to a quilt guild together and really enjoy playing with fabric together :D
I think my Mom is pretty awesome, but I am biased

Hi, Jeannine!!!! Wow, seven children!!!! I had two yrs. of French, in HS. and remember just a bit!!!! Your Mom is certainly motivated!!!! Oooo, quilting!!!! I use to sit, and watch my Mom and Grandmother, quilt!!!! I'd love to learn that and how to crochet, if Donna would have time to teach me!!! I learned how to basic knit in nursing school, but I forgot how now!!! Have you and Mom ever been to Lancaster, Pa., and seen all the quilts? Hiking in the Adirondacks sounds lovely!!!! Mary

Me Mum is 84 years young (she's Scottish). She and my dad (he's 91 and Maltese) are married 63 years, 11 months. I'm the youngest of three. For most of my time on this earth she was a SAHM. Before my time she worked for a company called Countess Mara, which specialized in men's neckties. I don't know exactly when she "cut ties" with them to become a SAHM. For many years while we lived in Astoria, Queens she and my dad were active in the Taminent Regular Democratic Club where they both served as spokespersons for a while. They were also active PTA members.
Today they live comfortably in Lake Ronkonkoma where she now has taken up the computer with the help of my DW, Jodibabe, whose social worker mom celebrated the big seven-oh this year.

Hi, John!!!! Wow, bless their hearts, married almost 64 yrs.!!!! Congratulations to them!!!! And Congratulations to Jodi's Mom on her big 70th!!! I'm Scots/Irish/German/ and possibly a bit American Native Indian, but haven't definitively proved that in my research yet!!! Very interesting job!!!! My Mom had a few jobs in her early yrs., one in a Co., making leather coats. She also worked for a firecracker factory, making "caps", those little dotted papers, that a kid could make pop by hammering with a rock, or children use to put into toy guns and they would pop. She was also a Waitress at Millers Smorgasbord/Soudersburg, Pa., which isn't far from Lancaster. Ever been there? A lot of tourists eat there. Our Daughter's inlaw cousins live in Ronkonkoma!!!! my mom is going to be 53....
she works part time selling make up. she wishes she didn't have to work but i know she'd miss it if she quit...she is really good at what she does (make up application) and i think she would have done great if she started her own business as a make up artist...
she sews for me when i need things fixed  , she likes entertaining/having company, she has a ton of treasured possesions which she has inherited and collected over the years...i tease her that she is a hoarder and she needs to sell some of her stuff
she's silly, likes to laugh, likes to have a good time...

Hi, Nik!!!! Awww, she sounds like my kind of gal!!! I have treasures too, that I'm sure my kids think of as get riddable!!! (Is that a word)? I very much treasure the small things I've inherited, that belonged to Dad, Mom,Grandmother,etc. I have a beatup suitcase, that my Dad put on his motorcycle, went he traveled to Illinois/Iowa, forget which one, maybe both!!!! He helped to build farm silos I think. I have handerchiefs/aprons of my Grandmother's. Where did your Mom get her passion for cosmetics? Mary

My Mom passed away 2 and a half years ago at the age of 76. She was a fabulous LI housewife and raised 4 kids.

Likes to work, huh? Sounds like my DH/Mom!!!! Right now our kids live "close", but our Daughters have talked long range plans to move to Phila./Long Island, and Texas. Hey, that might be good for me, then I can actually get out of Pa. and see other States!!!! I didn't get to see a lot of Long Island, when we were there for Debi/Fred's Wedding. I have been toi Texas twice, and loved it!!! Mary

Mom is 76 and disabled but is still my best friend. Mom and Dad are both retired now and take care of my recently disabled brother.
It's not an ideal situation but they are strong, selfless people who have taught me a lot about compassion, family and love.
It ain't perfect but it beats the alternative.

My mom will be 60 in March. She is a homemaker--she was a stay at home mom and raised 3 kids...she would work friday nights at the local pizza place.
