Jacob is 19 months. He sits at the table when he eats without a booster. He hasnt used his highchair in about a month. He knows how to walk up and down stairs but I hold his hand because he is not 100% steady. He doesnt know how to peddle a bike yet. We got him one of those motorized cars and he knows how to press the button to make it go. He absolutely loves the pool and bath and running through the sprinkler! We battle it out every morning when its time to brush his teeth Chat Icon Chat Icon His favorite word is NO and MINE Chat Icon however he is talking up a storm and repeating everything! His favorite thing to do right now is color, read books, and play outside!

Re: Tell me about your newly two year old or almost two year old....

Ryan will be 2 on 7/27. He is, as of now, an only child. He will sit in a high chair, a booster or at the table with nothing. He loves the bath, hates the shower and does not like the pool very much. He is crazy over Curious George, cars, trucks and trains and ALWAYS wants to be outside. He is full of energy and I am convinced he does not know how to walk because he only runs or jumps wherever he is going. He can walk up and down stairs, but I usually hold his hand anyway and he is never un supervised. He knows colors, eats with utensils and can not peddle a bike and doesn't much care about riding one right now. He does let me brush his teeth.....does not care about a wet or dirty diaper and has very little interest in the potty. He has always had a really good vocabulary and He is just now talking in 2 and 3 word sentences which is really cute because you can actually see him thinking he tries so hard. He talks from the minute he wakes until the minute he is asleep. He is very sweet and loving and still quite dependent, he grabs us by the hand all the time and says mommy sit or mommy come. He just wants us close. I guess I could go on forever, I just love him so much and he brings so much joy to all of us.

wow, I really have nothing to say about my DS, huh! Chat Icon They are really so amazing and I love to hear what everyone else's little ones are up to so I think this was a great topic.

Re: Tell me about your newly two year old or almost two year old....

Kerri is 25 months old. She will sit at the table with a booster, sometimes with nothing at all. Although we still use her highchair from time to time. She can climb stairs but I never let her do it without supervision.

Her favorite toys are her baby dolls and she pretends to feed them, change them, take them for walks. She also loves her Little People stuff.

LOVEs the bath, shower, pool and ocean. Would jump in on her own to any if she could, no fear. So DH or I are always right beside her when it comes to water. Enjoys brushing her teeth, will open up and say Ahhh for the toothbrush.

Favorite words...Every morning she says Good Morning Mommy. She ciunts to 13, does her ABC's, knows all animals and sounds and some colors and shapes. She constantly is talking away.

Just introduced the potty idea on Tuesday. We sit on it and she talks about it but no doing anything on it yet.

ETA: Went peepee on the potty today! Big celebration around hereChat Icon

Re: Tell me about your newly two year old or almost two year old....

Ava was just 2 on June 12.
She uses a regular chair or sits at her table and chair set when eating. I still put her in the high chair at restaurants to contain her, though.
She climbs stair unassisted.
LOVES LOVES LOVES the water. Any kind!
Likes to brush her teeth herself, but let's me do it after she does it.
Favorite word, hmmm, I wouldn't say she has a favorite word, but she likes to tell me, "That's a good idea, Mommy!" when I tell her to do somethingChat Icon
She definitely cannot peddle her tricycle yet but I think it's because her legs are too short.
She doesn't really have one favorite toy. She's really into playing pretend, though. And she loves to sing.
Basically she's like this little person now.
She has amazing manners and even says "bless you!" whenver you sneeze or asks you, "Are you ok?" when you coughChat Icon
She loves babies and animals and is extremely gentle and loving with them, it melts my heart!
Oh, and she's scared of EVERYTHING these daysChat Icon

Re: Tell me about your newly two year old or almost two year old....

DS will be two at the end of the month (7/27).
With a little sister on the way the following month

The highchair has been away for a long time, booster has been gone for the past two or three months. DS climbs the stairs unsupervised (our room is upstairs, his is down - he comes up most every AM on his own)

Loves the bath, pool, sprinklers and shower - have not gone to the beach yet. No fear!!! (we put a safety fence up this year because of his lack of fear) Loves to play outside and in our cars (turns all the buttons and plays with the lights - I have to battle him to get him out and in the house for dinner)

Currently hates us brushing his teeth (but loved it two months ago)

Favorite word: No!!! (really "no" is a new word he has just been saying the past few days)

Loves to cruise around in the John Deer Tractor thing (motorized car) but does not get reverse yet.
Also loves books!!!!

James is 22 months old. He'll eat in the high chair or a regular chair sometimes. He can climb stairs without help and is always running. He loves the pool, bath, beach, anything with water. He loves being outside and playing with rocks and dirt. Chat Icon He has known his ABCs for a few months and loves singing them. He can count to 20 and loves singing songs. He has an amazing vocabulary and I am in awe at what comes out of his mouth sometimes! He loves matchbox cars and his Thomas the train set. He also loves his books and pointing out what everything is in them.

Re: Tell me about your newly two year old or almost two year old....

DD is almost 22 months old.

We still use the highchair--mostly b/c DD wouldn't eat otherwise. She is so disinterested in food. I have to have her locked in to assure that she eats something.

The only climbing of stairs that she does is on her hands & knees or holding my hand. She doesn't even attempt to climb down. She is overly-cautious.

We haven't gotten her onto a tricycle yet to peddle so I am not sure on that one.

Her favorite toy is probably either her play guitar or a ball. She loves to play "catch".

Loves the pool, bath & sprinkler. I swear this kid is part fish!Chat Icon If I saw gills one day, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

She will let me briefly brush her teeth. It could be better. She'd rather walk around with her 2 tooth brushes, pretending to brush.

Favorite words must be "Mama's lap". She says it all day long!!!Chat Icon Or binky is certainly a close second!Chat Icon

Favorite TV programs----> Elmo, JoJo's Circus, and My Friends Tigger & Pooh.

ETA: Oh yeah, she loves to sing! She sings her ABC, the Elmo theme song, Twinkle Twinkle & Itsy Bitsy Spider. She knows her colors, identifies about 18 letters of the alphabet and can count to 13. And she talks up a storm!!

Re: Tell me about your newly two year old or almost two year old....

DS is 27 months old. No high chair or booster for a long time. Makes me wish our kitchen chairs weren't upholstered! He climbs up and down the stairs all by himself and I always catch him carrying armfuls of crap with him up and down...probably not the safest thing. Haven't tried peddling a tricycle yet. We have a Kettler that I push for him so the wheels are locked. He has finally learned how to ride in his car thing forward and backward. For months he could only go backwards. He loves the bath, but I more often put him in the shower because it's faster and easier. So far this summer I haven't broken out the kiddie pool, but I'm sure he'll love it. He doesn't like me to brush his teeth, but he does a poor to mediocre job on his own! Chat Icon Favorite word...I can't think of anything he doesn't say! He speaks in sentences and is fully conversational. He just cracks me up with the things he comes out with! He's starting to show an interest in potty training, but I'm not sure if I"M ready for that. Too much work right now with my 3 month old. His favorite toy is any type of car/truck/vehicle. We must have a hundred of them floating around the house! Chat Icon

Re: Tell me about your newly two year old or almost two year old....

DD is 2 1/2 and sits in the booster at home but everywhere else a normal chair. Currently trying the potty training thing, loves to do puzzles and is really good at them. Loves the pool the water park at Hoyt is the best thing to her. Can climb stairs on her own but i dont trust her yet. I guess Im over protective.. Loves to brush her teeth says "nice and clean" when finished.

She is my little parrot repeats EVERYTHING you say have to be careful right now with that!

Re: Tell me about your newly two year old or almost two year old....

Ellie is 24 months old and is little miss independent. We still use the highchair b/c it never occurred to me til reading this thread that we get rid of it. She insists on climbing stairs unassisted but I stand right with her.

Favorite toy right now is a Melissa and Doug cutting board with a fake knife and velcro veggies and fruits that she cuts up for hours on end.

LOVEs the bath, shower, and pool. We still haven't been to the beach and ocean. Hates having her teeth brushed. She'll keep the tooth brush in her mouth but doesn't actually brush on her own so we have to jump in and struggle while she insists she can do it.

Loves to talk. Non-stop all day! Narrates everything that everyone does. She ciunts to 13, does her ABC's, knows all animals and sounds and colors and shapes.

Just introduced the potty idea. Not sure if she's ready yet, but how do you know? She peed on it once after she did half on the floor first

Re: Tell me about your newly two year old or almost two year old....

Lauren is now 26 months.

Uses a high chairs, booster or nothing?
Lauren is still in her high chair and I have no plans to take her out right now. She sits in it and it keeps her contained and my table much neater! Chat Icon I have a booster for her she uses sometimes, so it is an option.

Can climb stairs with or without help?
She's been climbing stairs un-assisted for some time now. I really don't worry about her. We have a hi-ranch, so they are not full flights, but she will take the 6 stops down to the landing where the door is and she can go down 5 more steps her self to the lower level. We taught her to use the railings, so she does and she can also use the stairs on our back deck (just a few, as it's low to the ground).

Can peddle a bike/tricycle?
We have a few trikes here and she can't reach the peddals yet, but I think if she could reach, she could peddal.

Favorite toy?
Her favorite toy is usually anything her brother is playing with at the time, leading to fights!

Like or dislikes pool/bath/ water?
She always LOVED baths, the pool, etc. A month or so ago, all of a sudden, she became petrified of the bath water, for no reason at all. It was torture! Gradually, she is going back to taking a bath without screaming, so it really was just a phase. We spend our summers at the pool, and she loves it and never wants to leave!

Lets you brush his/her teeth?
Nope! I try, but she doesn't let me in there! And she insists on doing it herself!

Favorite word?
Plenty! she talks so much now. It's great, I feel like she's crying less and talking more! She speaks in full sentences too, which amazes me!

Forgot to add! We are potty training now, some days good, most days not! Chat Icon She gets the poop part, not the pee, so I still have her in diapers and she tells me when she has to go poopy, although sometimes its too late Chat Icon
