My ped doesn't. She uses the ear Thermometer. I asked her about the temple one and she says it is too easy to use incorrectly.

My ped doesn't. They do rectal only and that is the only kind that I ever did. The other one is too inaccurate. And a degree here or there can make a huge difference.

I have one at home, and it's not really that good... I use the ear one for my DD and the under the tongue one for my son (he's 3.5). I've never had to do a rectal, thank the Lord!
