Terrible accident where 454 and 347 merge in Hauppauge today

Does anyone know what happened? We were driving on Vets and saw a police helicopter land on Hauppauge HS Football field, minutes later we came across the accident. 2 cars (one was a rather large SUV) were MANGLED and there were at least 10 emergency vehicles.

Hope everyone was OK Chat Icon

Yeah, it was messy. I think the other car was small and black.

I was passing through around 3:30.

I passed it around 5 or 5:30 and the truck was still there, but the black car was gone. The truck was really messed up, but the part where the driver and passengers would be was intact (all the glass was broken but at least they didn't get crushed)

I hope they are ok!
