Terrible experience at Winthrop
I just had DC #2 at Winthrop on Friday and while L&D was fantastic, the maternity unit was a disaster. I'm usually not one to make a big deal out of something like this, but the care I received was appalling (especially since they were great in 2008 when i had my son) and I need to tell someone but who? Do hospitals have like a customer service department or something similar?
Any info on who you would contact would be great.
Thanks

It is usually called Patient Services. They deal with complaints.

ugh, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I know that a few weeks after birth, I received a satisfaction survey from Stony Brook. I had a great experience and made sure to write about it. I even got a followup call when they received it back. Maybe winthrop does the same?

I filled one of those out a few weeks after I was discharged from Winthrop. So sorry your experience was bad. I know by the last day I was tired of them barging in on me (I know they were doing their job but if I'm in the shower, don't come in my room).
Also, completely unrelated to your question, but I wrote about this on the survey, WHYYYY is the toilet paper holder ALL the way across from the toilet bowl? You can't reach it while you're sitting down. And sitting down was a battle to begin with. Did they not think about how painful it would be to have to reach over to get TP?

I felt the same way about winthrop. Great L&D nurses but maternity nurses were nasty. Hope that you can find someone to contact.

Re: Terrible experience at Winthrop
You could also try and send a letter to the director if nursing - if it was related to the RN's. I would be as specific as possible.

I had both my sons at Winthrop, one last week, and had an overall good experience. It's the luck of the draw, my nurses were all very nice.

Re: Terrible experience at Winthrop
I agree about filling out the survey and contact the nursing director. Would you mind sharing your experience? I am having my second baby there this fall and am curious to know what to look out for- I had a great experience there the first time around.

Re: Terrible experience at Winthrop
I had problems with the maternity nurses too. I filled out the survey and I received a form letter saying they were looking into the situation

Re: Terrible experience at Winthrop
My sister had problems when she was discharged. The person who brought her down to the car was very rude. With all the construction my mom had to go get the car. The man that wheeled her down said he already waited too long and my sister would have to get out so he made her lift car seat after c section and left her standing there alone holding baby. Jerk!
