First thing that struck me when I read your post was comparing yourself to someone else. Don't do that. Everyone has their own life outside of work and if they are entitled to sick time, then that's that. Second, does your company have a policy as to when to bring in a doctor's note? I totally know what you mean about being annoyed and swamped but don't let your emotions overrule the facts Chat Icon

I agree...sometimes you get sick...and sometimes you take your days...now granted the only time i took a few sick days was when I was very sick with the flu and strep...and I think it was good that he called later in the day and said he wouldn't make it in again...sometimes you just need a day to rest up

Maybe it's just me, but isn't that what sick days are for? So you don't have to go in if you feel sick? And isn't that why you save them up? So when you need them you have enough? Honestly, I've never worked a job where I had paid sick days, but if I did, I would certainly take them and hope that my superiors didn't look down on me for not working on days where I was genuinely sick. If there's no HR policy about multiple days off in a row, I don't see what this guy's doing wrong.

Now, I don't know about you, but when I was younger, the rule was: you don't decide if you're NOT going to school tomorrow until you wake up; you don't decide the night before.

ITA! Over the past few months, I've noticed quite a few co-workers calling in sick for the whole week!

All of them at least age 50.

How do you know on Monday that you're still going to be too sick to come to work on Thursday? Chat Icon

And when we're busy, he still leaves on time, arrives on time, and never eats lunch at his desk.

(I go above and beyond at work, paid for it or not.)

This guy probably does what he does because he figures he's just the assistant. He didn't get the promotion and you have to come in early and stay late because it comes with the territory of being the boss.

I'm not saying it's right, but "that's why you get the big bucks"Chat Icon
