I went there today, and got $1400! I'm still in shock! $1400 for old jewelry that I hadn't even looked at in 10+ years!

It wasn't a ton. I had one or two bigger pieces (big bangle, and a thick chain), then a few thin chains & bracelets, earrings, etc. I wasn't expecting anything close to that kind of money.

Damn, I might have to get my mother there when I come to NY in June. She has a ton of jewelry from her mother and grandmother just sitting in a safe deposit box. I know many of the pieces are 24K and 18K gold. She's mentioned many times that she doesn't know what she's going to do with that stuff.

I had:
3 gold necklaces that were fairly heavy, 3 small bracelets, various small earrings, thin chains.
I weighed it before I went and it was about 4.2 oz, which is about 3.8 troy ounces. Gold is trading at (approx) $915 for pure (24K) gold. 14K gold is approx 58.33% of 24K gold. So I figured the value of my gold was about $2028 and they gave me $1200. So I felt I got a good deal, and if my math or thinking are incorrect (for any commodities traders) don’t tell me, let me think I got a good deal…
