Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanukkah?Kwanza dinner hosting

If you are hosting a dinner for the holidays, about how much do you spend, from soup to nuts? (ie groceries, decor etc)

TIA.

Re: Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanukkah?Kwanza dinner hosting

I'm just having my parents and my sister, her bf and my neice over.

I'm not going to go crazy. I bought a new table cloth and napkins and then just have my regular decorations up.

I haven't decided what to make yet - but my mom said that she would even cook baked ziti and bring it over. Chat Icon

There isn't many of us, so I'm not going to make too much.

We typically have around 35 people for Thanksgiving. I don't spend much on decor as I'm a freak when it comes to fall/thanksgiving decorations and already have a ton. I would say it probably costs us somewhere around $350 to pull together a really nice Turkey Day feast along with afternoon appitizers, and usually breakfast too, since most of my family stay with us the night before.

I am hosting Thanksgiving for the first time this year, so I don't know. But everyone brings something so I don't have to cook that much, which is really nice!

I'm hosting Thanksgiving. There will be 12 adults.
My dad is getting me a turkey.
So for food, I'll probably spend about $200. That includes any special ingrediants I may need that I don't already have.

I try to delegate some sides and desserts, so it doesn't become too overwhelming, financially and time wise.

I do Thanksgiving for 30 every year. If I had to guess, I would say between 300-400 dollars.

Re: Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanukkah?Kwanza dinner hosting

I host Christmas at my house, but since my parents stay with me for the winters, my mom and I always split the cost for Christmas. but meat/fish alone cost minimum $300, then you spend another $200 at the grocery store, and DH always ends up buying tons of wine, and different alcohol so thats another $200 bux there.
It adds up so I'm glad we split it.

My mom hosts all holidays for 20+ people and we probably spend about $500.

We are also the family that has the lasagna AND the ham AND the roast beef AND the 20lb turkey for thanksgiving. . . we always overdo it. . .

We are probably doing Thanksgiving this year because I am finally off for once but it will be a smaller group so I am going to say like 400..

but we did easter last year and 4th of July which probably ran about 300-400 and approx 500-600 respectively

In my family we split it up - who ever is hosting buys the meat and then everyone else brings a side/dessert or drinks.
