The board is dead lately... lets check in!
How is everyone doing?
Ryan is doing really good. His speech is really coming along and he even spoke a sentence the other day... Daddy, cut, hair... which sounds like Da-dee, cuh, hairrrrrrrr. This is huge for him, so I am very proud.
In a few weeks, I have a meeting at this school to determine if he will qualify for the summer program, which I don't think that he will. So we will pay out of pocket for it, which I don't mind because it is still much cheaper for any other program I would put him in, and he will love it.

Re: The board is dead lately... lets check in!
Good idea! Glad to hear about his progress, thats awesome!!
Johnny is 2 1/2 this month. He is saying a ton of short phrases, i guess "mini sentences" and he continues to learn more and more everyday.
He eats with all utensils, drinking from a cup without a lid now for about 6 months and starting to potty train (operative word being STARTING lol).
Looking into the right school for next year and nervous about where to place him, but we'll have a professional eval in a month or so to see where we stand and get their feedback.
Can't wait to hear everyone elses updates!

Re: The board is dead lately... lets check in!
Thanks!!
The highlight for me was last week in Arizona visiting the in-laws, we were all passing around a box of donuts...johnny turns to his grandpa and goes "NO DONUTS PA!" and shook his finger at him. We had taught him to say it earlier in the day (DH jokes around that his dad needs to lay off the junk...). We didn't realize he still remembered the phrase..of course when you ask a kid to say something that clam up, lol. It was pretty funny

Re: The board is dead lately... lets check in!
DS just turned 21 months yesterday. 2 in 3 months
Since last week his babbling has increased tremendously. He "talks" while we are driving in the car. He "talks" while reading his books. There is now a "purpose" to babble. He also started to make different sounds and "r" is now coming in the babbles.
He started to play with his toys. He is curious to see what the therapists bring in their toy bag. He used to NEVER care about a new toy. Now he is interested. He will sit down and play for a few minutes with a toy. That never happened before unless it was structured play with me or the therapists.
So there is progress.

Re: The board is dead lately... lets check in!
So glad to hear all the great progress. Christopher is now initiating playing with us, he is using his PECS really well, and tries to say something when he is asking for it. When he wants something, he is now grabbing our hand and bringing us to the item. The giggest sesnory thing is that he NEVER played in the sandbox last summer. He hated the feel and would not stay in it for more than a minute. We opened the sandbox yesterday, and he played alongside his brother and was playing with the shovel, and picking up handfuls of sand without a problem. When we went to cloe the sandbox to go in, he ran back to pull the cover open. I found out at school, he LOVES the rice table, so I am going to make a water table and fill it wil rice. Christopher is starting to identify some numbers and letters.

Re: The board is dead lately... lets check in!
Bryan is now 26 months. He's "Caught up" with PT (just have to get him jumping) and all is good..he LOVES throwing and kicking balls, he LOVES to run and play tag. Speech is still "babble" and lots of it. He has a few words, but, is coming along. I'll be calling today or tomorrow to start him in a summer program at a local school that offers EI. With the new baby coming, it will be soooo much easier to have him have his services in school, rather than the doorbell ringing everyday,, sometimes 2x a day.

Re: The board is dead lately... lets check in!
it is SO great to hear about all the progress!!!
josh is 22 1/2 months and will be a big brother on 4/2!
i'm having problems with them wanting to take away a ot session even though they ot said he made little to no progress in the 3 months she's seen him.
he's still vomiting but has been eating some new things (turkey sandwich, egg salad, sandwich, mushed chick. nuggets and meatloaf! )
his brain mri and stomach sono were both normal!
he's talking in full gramatically correct sentences which blow our minds! still some articulation issues though but at this point whatever!
the best update is we have a new slp who has a clue!!! she's been doing oral motor exercises with him and i'm just so happy that he's letting her in his mouth (although he does at times fight it.)

Re: The board is dead lately... lets check in!
Glad to hear all the kids are doing well!
Lance is doing really well also. We went to the developmental ped. last week. (Marcie Silverman) She told us that Lance was def. not on the spectrum, but that he does have a language delay, which we already knew. She also said that she thinks "typical" preschool is the right placement for him in September, which was what I had hoped.
His receptive & expressive skills have improved soooo much since we had the tubes put in his ears. Now I really can see how much he understands... He will get me things when I ask for them, and he has even started to answer questions. He can label everything. I am amazed by what he knows. He can count, and do his alphabet. (out of order) He can read books with me.
This only happened in the past four months. I cannot believe how far we have come.

Re: The board is dead lately... lets check in!
He is 4-1/2, diagnosed at 18 months as PDD. He has made great advances recently.
He still has some distractability and eye contact issues. He still struggles with them, but he is light-years ahead of where he was a couple of years ago. Now, he is self-correcting himself. Here are two examples: When he gets distracted by the school buses passing outside his classroom, he asks the teacher to close the blinds when he sees them and then continues to do his work unaffected. Next, when talking to my sister the other day, you could see him really putting effort into maintaining eye contact. I'm so proud of him.

Re: The board is dead lately... lets check in!
WOW, I love hearing how good all the kids are doing..how far they have come!!!
Noah is doing well. Speech is coming real slow but thats ok. No "real" word yet but he is trying. He said "wawa" for Water this week and Mimp for Map when watching Diego.. We know its gonna take time and he trys so hard. Breaks my heart sometimes to see him try so hard.
We are ATTACKING his sleep issues and once thats controlled, taking the pacifier away totally and the bottle is a priority as it interferes with the Speech for sure.
As he is able to express more we are finding the sensory issues to be less as well. This is HUGE since we are right on the fence with getting an OT eval or not and we feel it might for now be managable with us alone since we can recognize a lot of the issues.
