The Boardy Barn

So my friends are finally dragging my DH and I (after many years of asking) to the Boardy Barn on Sunday... and I have never been!

I need some info!

We want to drive (we live in Ridge) but I heard the train is the better option. Where would I pick up the train then?

Also... I heard the line is super long... any advice?

Just tell me all you can! Thanks girlies!

Don't wear a white shirt. I can't imagine why you'd take a train from Ridge? I always drove there with no problem.
Be prepared to be completely skeeved out. Good luck!Chat Icon

-they do have indoor bathrooms in the covered part
-where your saturday clothes (ie def do not dress in your sunday best)
-wear flip flops. Your feet get gross
-I've never taken the train, we always drove or rented a bus/cab.

Re: The Boardy Barn

I love the barn! Haven't been there this summer though. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. The floor can get pretty gnarly.

Yes the line is definitely long. Many people get there early and start the party while they are on line. If you get there later I've always found that the bouncers will walk you to the front for the right $$.

The bathrooms inside are generally the best.

Have fun!!!

OMG, its like (imo) the best place to party on LI. Its so much fun. Its half outside/half inside giant barn like place with beer, beer, beer. They play classic singalong style music, tons of fun. Everyone is there to have fun.

Haven't been there in a while, but I miss it. Too old for it now. ....

Oh the memories (or lack thereof Chat Icon).

Wear old sneakers. DO NOT wear flip flops unless you want to scrub your feet with a toothbrush when you get home.

It's a great time as long as you give in to the messy drukeness that it is. Chat Icon

Re: The Boardy Barn

Get there EARLY otherwise you'll never get in - the lines are insanely long.

Don't wear anything you would mind getting stained - it's a mess in there.

Under the tent is "grass" (read: mud) so I'd recommend you wear flip flops so as not to ruin any shoes you own.

Bathroom lines are LONG don't "break your seal" Chat Icon

If you don't know the lyrics to Sweet Caroline - LEARN THEM.

What day of the week is the best day to go? Saturday? Sunday?

And what time do you have to get there so you get in? How early is early?

Wear disposable clothes!

I have a pair of flip flops that i swear still smells like the barn- i keep them for nostalgic reasons Chat Icon

If it's really hot- bring a bottle of water for when you're waiting on line.

It is so much fun! I couldnt imagine going there now (esp. being married)... the things that we did there.... Chat Icon good time, good times. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

They're only opened on Sundays (unless it's changed, but thats the way it always was)... on holiday weekends, theyre opened additional days.

They are only open on Sunday from 4-8PM (12n-8p on Holiday weekends). I would get there at around 12N-1PMish for the 4-8PM days. There was always a line!!

Re: The Boardy Barn

Fun fact about the BB.... despite being open only 4 hours a week between memorial day and labor day, they are the largest distributor or Bud on LI (at least they used to be).

Have fun!!!

Re: The Boardy Barn

def wear not so great clothes, and wear shoes that you don't care about.
We used to drink on line to pass the time, but then had to peeeee so bad when we got in there.
Haven;t been there in at least 5 years but it's def a fun place, but you have to be ok with that "atmosphere"

The line is killer but worth the wait. A group of friends went out last year and one said after she got in, I guess this is like childbirth....a b*tch going through it but totally worth it in the end.

Re: The Boardy Barn

I agree with all the pp.

Old shoes, be ready to wait on line.
Crazy, drinking, dancing, singing, drinking, crowded good times.
Get stickered, don't toss your beer or even try to.

A bunch of friends are going Sunday, debating whether I am in or not.
HAVE FUN!!!

Re: The Boardy Barn

Go with an open mind!! haha It's easy to get aggrevated at the messiness and all-but have some drinks and join in on the insanity. SOOO much fun (if you're in the mood for the Barn...lol) We used to go a lot...but haven't been in a few years. I'd love to go once this summer just to bring back memories, but I could see my old @ss getting fed up quickly. I used to be much more relaxed. hahaa.
