The book-Your Pregnancy Week by Week
I'm confused, just started reading it and it says that I think Week 10 or 12 is when you hear the hearbeat for the first time??? I thought that started at around 6 weeks???

My doctor said that you can see the heartbeat at the 6 week sono...but can't hear it until later.

That means you might be able to Hear it on a doppler at the dr's office.
The heart starts beating aroun 5-7 weeks but the heartbeat is wayyy to quiet to hear from the outside.

Re: The book-Your Pregnancy Week by Week
yea my doc said it'll be a while till we hear the heartbeat. I'm 8 weeks and we were able to see it on the sonogram beating away. So cool. I have that book too i think it's with very specific equipment you'd be able to hear it.

I think 10 weeks is just an average. I was actually able to hear the hb at 8 1/2 weeks

Re: The book-Your Pregnancy Week by Week
i really like that book, although i have to admit i don't completely understand the way they use "weeks" - like, i'm currently 5w4d, which would put me in my 6th week. so in that book i don't know whether to read "5 weeks" or "6 weeks".
i am embarrassed but i have to say, i still find the whole time concept confusing

10 weeks is usually the earliest you can hear the heartbeat.
