The Driver of a Blue Honda Civic
that was driving on the LIE last night at 8:15 pm.
YOU S U C K!
You were driving so out of control you almost caused 5 families a lot of pain for your recklessness.
As you cut us off and almost hit an Ambulance then jammed on the brakes in front of us, then spun out of control to the right and made two cars go off on to the service road then you spun back across the LIE, almost got hit head on by a huge construction truck.
As I watched this all going on....i'm Dialing 911 and the Cops said there is nothing they could do because no car or person was injured. (Thank God)
Well, I have your license number and make of your car and atleast the police told me you live in Port Jeff.
Until we meet again.

that's what the police said. and I also heard from them ...on How unhappy they are that they are no longer patrolling the Hwys anymore. It appears Levy in not popular with the police force anymore.

Re: The Driver of a Blue Honda Civic
oh that is terrible!
i would have flipped out! what a jerk!
meanwhile, i have called many times on out of control drivers and have had the police respond every single time -- i even stayed with the car (a little bit behind) until i saw the police go after them -- and they did.
ETA: but they DID witness it -- meaning, once they drove up, saw the person and witnessed the behavior.

Yes, they said there is nothing they can do unless they saw it!
I guess that makes sense because unless they witness it, it's your word against the other driver's. But they really should come check it out to see if this person is still driving dangerously and in that case they can witness it themselves!

I cant believe that they wouldnt come out to investigate. Normally when you make those calls (especially in an extreme situation like the one the OP experienced) They will send the closes unit to the area to investigate.

Re: The Driver of a Blue Honda Civic
How horrible! I hate when people drive like lunatics. They should have at least investigated - it is called reckless endangerment - an A misdemeanor!

I don't understand based on how they were driving I would think they would at least investigate to see if the driver was drunk.

that's what I thought!!!!
I even mentioned that to them. Nope Nothing....they Just told me they didn't see it there is nothing they could do...and It would have to be the Sheriff who investigated it. I said I dialed 911 shouldn't they have contacted the Sheriff Dept....Yes, but they are a little busy.
Felt a little dishearten...that I dialed 911 and got the cars info and still nothing can be done.

Re: The Driver of a Blue Honda Civic
Unfortunately, it's true. The police can't do anything unless THEY witness it. My DH was just in a situation the other night where he was writing someone a ticket, and as he was doing this, a driver pulled up to his car, got out, and knocked on his window. He told DH about a car he saw driving recklessly, banging into curbs, etc. After writing the ticket, DH rode around trying to find the car that fit the witness' description. He found it, AND the owner slumped over the steering wheel parked in front of his residence. The car was off. When he was telling me this story I interrupted him and said,"You better have taken him in!!" to which he said he couldn't because he didn't witness the episode, and when he found the car, yes, a drunken man was in it, but the car was off. He wouldn't have been able to prove the guy was driving drunk unless he had a signed, written statement from the witness, which he didn't have.
It stinks, I know!
