Oil Question
We got an oil delivery 4 weeks ago tomorrow and I looked last night at the tank and we are already down to half a tank. We aren't home during the day and only have it on for a few hours at night. It doesn't get turned up past 68. Does this seem normal? The oil also heats up our hot water.

Re: Oil Question
yes, that's pretty normal. We get filled about every 6 weeks in the winter. You don't want it to go too much lower than 1/4 tank or you may encounter sludge/sediment.

Re: Oil Question
funny you posted that.....we just got our delivery and the receipt says that we had 0 gallons to start with! think about how much you use as far as hot water showers, laundry, cooking etc...as well as heating up ur house.

Re: Oil Question
We just had a delivery 4 weeks ago also and use oil for hot water. We're still above 1/2 tank but not by too much. We leave our heat at 65.

Re: Oil Question
I checked our tank this morning and it is the same with us. We filled up the tank on 11/24 and we are already at a 1/2 tank.
Oil for hot water for laundry, showers, dishwasher, and oil for heating the house (we keep it at 64/66) adds up.
I plan to call this week for a refill. I am not looking forward to spending all this money on oil.

Re: Oil Question
If you go by a gauge on the top of the tank, those things are never accurate. You need to stick your tank to get a true reading. The gauge on my tank this morning tells me that I don't have any oil in my tank when, in fact, I have 85 gallons. I had a delivery a month ago which gave me 160 gallons. So, in the course of a month, I used 75 gallons, but, my tank showed that I was on empty. I never rely on those things.
