The last CRUISE you went on...

what cruiseline?
where did it leave from and where did it stop?
likes/dislikes... would you recommend it?

We're most likely going to book a cruise for Feb (leaving from FL), but I want some ideas/info on cruises you've been on recently. TIA!

Re: The last CRUISE you went on...

Last cruise left for Kennedy Space center - Carnival Cruise Lines, went to Nass Baha, Grand Turk and there own private island.

The ship was small and you felt the boat moving, the entertainment was okay... I dont think I would take this cruise line again, I would stick with Royal Caribbean.

grand Turk was beautiful as well as nass Bahama

Princess Cruise

Left from Ft Lauderdale.

Stopped at - Grand Cayman, Jamiaca, Cozumel, Princess Cays

Beautiful boat, great food, great service.

One dislike - it was geared toward an older crowd, not too bad at all, but no real fun bars or anything. If you are going to just relax, then its perfect!

Last cruise I went on (May 07) was Norwegian Spirit - NY to Port Canaveral, Nassau, and private island. I would NOT recommend this cruise, or Norwegian in general.

The cruise before that (Nov 06) was much much better. Carnival Miracle from Tampa to Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, and Costa Maya. Great room, great ports, much better service than Norwegian IMO.

Enjoy!

Last cruise we took was last year on the Monarch of the seas. Left from Miami and went to RCCL's private island, CoCoCay and Nassau.

We are going on Liberty of the Seas (RCCL) next month and that leaves from MIA. Goes to San Juan, St. Martin and Labadee, Haiti.

I cant wait. Chat Icon

Re: The last CRUISE you went on...

Last cruise we did was April 06 (our HM) on NCL Dawn out of NY. We were not too fond of the ship because we felt the food selection was very limited. We later found out that NCL was doing a "test" menu to see if the new style would get thumbs up! You could imagine all the disappointed passengers

We did a 10 day Eastern Caribbean cruise in which we went to Puerto Rico, Tortola, St. Thomas, St. Maarten & the Bahamas!

Since we have cruised many times before, I would say the Princess cruise we took was the BEST! Great service, great food & the atmosphere was amazing.

Re: The last CRUISE you went on...

last cruise we went on was last year on the Celebrity Zenith from Cape Liberty, NJ to Bermuda. We stopped in Hamilton and St. George. The boat was old and small. I did not like cruising the Atlantic, way too rough for my taste. We really liked Bermuda but unfortunately we got rain about half the time we were there.

i also cruised in 2001 on the Carnival Triumph from Miami to the Western Carribean. I liked that boat but at the time it was pretty new so i don't know what it's like now. we stopped in Ochos Rios, Jamaica, Cozumel, Mexico and Grand Cayman Island. Loved the stops. loved Grand Cayman for the beach and Mexico for the bars and silver jewelry.

i know the Celebrity boat was old and small but I liked the atmosphere on Carnival better. I felt like there was more to do on days at see and it was geared for a younger crowd.

Re: The last CRUISE you went on...

Our Last cruise was out of San Jaun and we went to St Thomas St Martin Barbados.
it was on the princess cruise line.

We have already book a cruise for 1 year wedding anniversary. we are flying to San Diego and cruise to the Mexican Riveria in December. can't wait!

I think we will always take a cruise for one of our vacations and take another week for the lay on the beach relaxing vacation.

Re: The last CRUISE you went on...

Last summer we did the NCL Spirit out of NYC. It stopped in Florida, Nassau and their own island in the Bahamas. We weren't overly impressed with the food, and wound up eating at the speciatly (extra $$) restaurants most nights. The ship was a lot smaller than the Carnival Triumph we took in 2001. For what we paid ($1200 for the both of us in a balcony room) I would reccomend NCL, but I would rather pay a little more and cruise a different line in the future.

Holland America

Fort Lauderdale to
Grand Turk
Tortola
St. Thomas
Half Moon Cay Bahamas

I loved everything about it (service, food, cleanliness etc.) except the nightlife, it ended pretty early. It was mostly older passengers (which we knew when booking).

Re: The last CRUISE you went on...

Been on 4 cruises since 2003...

Carnival Imagination- Smaller, older ship. Lot of fun. At the time, went to Grand Caymen and Ochos Rios. Left from Miami. (5 days)

Carnival Conquest- Newer, larger ship. A lot of fun also. At the time went to Grand Caymen, Montego Bay and Cozumel. Left from New Orleans. (7 days)

Carnival Victory- Newer, larger ship, very similar to the Conquest. At the time went to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Left from Miami. (7 days)

Carnival Fantasy- Smaller, older ship, very similar to the Imagination but recently refurbished. At the time went to Nassau and Freeport. Left from Pt. Canaveral. This was the ONLY ship I ever got seasick on. I think it was because of our location on the ship (all the way at the front but we booked it last minute). (4 days)

I definetly recommend the newer ships. Carnival is amazing with the activities, excursions and the food. FM me with any questions!

Yea we definitely want a newer ship, I think we narrowed it down to Carnival and RCCL. Now we have to look into all the itineraries...

I was also on The Tahitian Princess and loved it. I got a little nausous, and the only thing that helped me was ginger pills that you can get in the vitamin store. Just check with pharmacy if it is okay for you to take . I have been on Norweign and like Princess much better. Leaving in 1 week for Alaska on Princess , looking forward to it.
I was on The NCL Sun in Guatamala, Belize, and Mexcio, liked the ports was not too fond of some things on the ship- I had dirty bedding, that they fixed but I was a little skived out afterwards, I have been on The Crown Princess out of NY and loved it. HTH

Re: The last CRUISE you went on...

We went on Norweigan Spirt from NY to Cape Canaveral, Nassau and the private island in Feb 07. We had a great time. We really liked the freestyle cruising, where you get to pick when and where you eat, because DH and I hate to be confined by a dining schedule. We did spend the extra $ to eat at the speciality restaurants most nights, which were amazing and well worth it to us. One huge negative is I got violently sea sick (seriously) on the ride back. In Feb, the waters are really choppy up north, so it's good that you are leaving from FL.

We've been on Carnival severals times in the past, took the Victory and Triumph to Nova Scotia Canada. Carnival is a great line too. IMO, I thought it had more of a party/glitzy atmosphere (I'll never forget the "Hairiest chest contest" by the pool!).

Re: The last CRUISE you went on...

We just got off the Carnival Liberty. The ship was gorgeous and we had a lot of fun. The new RCL ships are gorgeous as well, we saw them in port., but if $$ are a concern check out Carnival. Any of the Conquest Class ships would be fine

likes/dislikes... would you recommend it?We absolutely loved it! Our room was awesome (we had a balcony room)- the service was great, too. We never ate in the dining room- we opted to pay the $10 pp to eat in the Specialty Restaurants- which were well worth it. The only stop we did not like was Martinque. It was raining when we got there- but eventually stopped. No one there on the island spoke english, it was all french. There really wasnt much to do in the city that we were docked in. That would be our only complaint.
