Awesome! I really needed this today. I just got back from week 3, day 1. It was hard, the middle running feels so long. PLUS I got new shoes today and I think I got shin splints from them. I never had them before running tonight.

YAYYY this is a great thread! I am on week one, day two. Tomorrow will be day three.
I feel like I should be doing it more than three days a week and I was thinking of doing it at least four days. Is everyone else starting at three days a week?

Re: The un-official Couch to 5K thread

I was looking to do more than 3 times a week at first, too. But then I realized trying to always do 4 times a week may be too hard. KWIM? 3 times a week works for me, so it's what I do.

Here is another site I use for podcasts : C25K podcasts

I'm on week 3, day 3. So far so good.

The podcasts are really helpful. I've listened to more techno in the past 3 weeks than in the past 33 years combined...

I will do anything to avoid injury, so I will stay with 3 days for now. Every once in a while, I do a random run that has nothing to do with C25K just to get blood flowing. After I finish, I will decide if I want to make it a 4 day a week thing, if I want to pursure the one hour running program or if I want to train for a 10K or a half. But for now, I'm not going to do anything that might sideline me.

Yeah, I definitely don't want to overdo it. By the end of last summer i was running about four to five days a week. I might wait until half way through the program to up it to four, since I haven't ran in months.
Today I finished week one!

Today I started week 2 and it wasn't too bad! I have a feeling week 3 will be really challenging for me. I just wish it would start to warm up out there!

Re: The un-official Couch to 5K thread

I saw this yesterday and decided to start today. I downloaded the first the weeks of the podrunner onto my Ipod.
So, I did my first day (Week 1, day 1) and felt like I was going to DIE...turns out, I uploaded the weeks out of order and I was doing Week 3 Chat Icon. Oh well, I know now that when I get to week 3, I'll survive Chat Icon

Re: The un-official Couch to 5K thread

Hi ladies, new to running but can you do this at home on the treadmill and if so what incline and speed would you suggest for the running and walking.

Thank you

Re: The un-official Couch to 5K thread

I did week 1 day 2 yesterday and am resting today. I will do week 1 day 3 on Thursday. I am thinking of repeating week 1--what do you think about that?

Re: The un-official Couch to 5K thread

Was up at 6AM, doing my Week 1, Day 2 in the cold rain (I'm not giving up for anything!) and I must say that Week 1 is far easier than Week 3 Chat Icon. Now that the podrunners are in the correct order on my Ipod, that shouldn't happen again (if I had just paid attention to the guy in the beginning, I would have realized right away that I was doing the wrong week Chat Icon). I'm so pumped that I'm doing this!

As per another forum I frequent:

A good running incline is about a half to one and a half percent. A good running speed is the speed at which s/he can maintain a conversation with someone but have a little bit of difficulty in singing along with the radio. That'll change over time and is very individual

Yeah, the jump from week 3 to week 4 was tough! I had to lower my speed during the longer running intervals so I could finish without keeling over.
