the waiting game
I just read that you should wait 3-6 months to try again. I don't want to wait that long...anyone have experience in getting back on the baby train and having success? TIA
Edited to add: I've been searching for an answer to this question and keep getting mixed reviews. I was only 5 weeks, so "technically" I was a week late for AF. Does this bleeding count as AF then? Do I use this to try to figure out when I O?

Re: the waiting game
mine said 3 cycles post d&c to give the uterine lining a break and to give the body time to get back to normal...
honestly i am glad i am waiting the 3, i don't necessarily want to (its toture waiting!)but my body is all out of whack...
i think it depends on how far along you are and how it happens though

Re: the waiting game
When I had a D&C in 2007, I had to wait 3 cycles (around 4 months). My Dr said that the uterine lining is thinned after a D&C and can cause problems with implantation if you start conceive too soon. I got preggo approx 7 months after the D&C.
I had a natural m/c this pas summer and was told to wait 2 cycles, which took 3 months. Then we started TTC again (and still are....)

Re: the waiting game
My dr said to wait until af came once after my natural mc. He said 2 afs after a d&c. I got pregnant before af and everything was fine.

Re: the waiting game
mine said 2 cycles but we had one and I am unsure if they are considering the MC one but we are trying. Look how many success stories you hear about without even getting AF. As long as I heard my levels were at 2, I was going to try again. Hoping it all works out!!!

Re: the waiting game
I wasn't sure about that either, if the mc counted...I'm waiting for the cheapie O tests to come to see what's going on with that.
Good luck everyone, and thanks

Re: the waiting game
i was told to wait 2 cycles. for me i feel like it is a combo of getting my body back to normal and to be emotionally ready to even consider trying again. its been 6 weeks for me since my MC and my body is just getting back to feeling normal. i guess everybody is different

i'm not sure if the miscarriage counts? i don't think so but i'm not sure about natural miscarraiges...
i know for me, my doctor said the bleeding post d&c was NOT a cycle/NOT a period and to start counting cycles after that. so the first AF post d&c is the first cycle. she said during the d&c the lining of the uterus is scraped down very thin and that is why she wants us to wait the 3 cycles (with a natural miscarriage i don't think that is the case)...she said if i get pregnant quickly my uterine lining might not be strong enough for the implantation or to hold the pregnancy. she said we want to give the next pregnancy the best chance so it is better to wait....ugh i hate the waiting....i read tons of stories about people who have a d&c and get pregnant right away (sometimes even before a period!) and everything is fine...but if something bad happens again i want to know that my body was ready and it wasn't b/c we rushed it kwim?....but i wish we could
i would think with a natural miscarriage the uterus isn't as beat up.
my personal opinon is at least one cycle, maybe two no matter how far along or what type of miscarriage. i know for me, it took weeks for my body to be back to normal..and almost 2 months later i STILL am not back to my normal self. my weight is all over the place, my skin is horrible, my hair is falling out like crazy - i've come to realize that after i give birth i'll probably be a hot mess considering it is this bad after a few weeks of pregnancy but my horomones are def all over the place - i think that is enough reason for me to wait a little longer....although its killing me!
i hope we all get better luck next time

Re: the waiting game
I had a loss at exactly 5 weeks as you did. It was considered a chemical pregnancy. My doc said no need to wait at all since my uterus cleaned out on it's own, no D&C. I NEVER had a cycle after that and am now 8 weeks pregnant! Good luck to you! I hope this helps!

Yes! Thank you. I honestly don't know what I would have done without these boards. It's devastating enough, and a little humiliating to talk about with people who didn't know that you were pregnant at all to begin with...knowing there are other people out there who've been through the same or G-D forbid worse is comforting in a weird way. Thank you all

Re: the waiting game
i had two early losses, one was before 5w and we didnt wait at all, went right back into fertility treatments. the second one was after 5w and we waited one cycle. 3-6 is VERY excessive for a 5w loss.
