The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
I just got BFP last Friday. It was 5 days before my period was due, really light line. On Sunday, I took another test, also a really light line. On Tuesday, the day before AF was due, I took another and got a really dark line. I hated my last practice so I am going with a midwife this time. I called to make an appointment and they said they wait until you are 8 weeks along. So now, I am guessing I am 4 weeks along (according to Babycenter lol). I don't have an appointment until Aug 13th. I am terrified that maybe the test is wrong, that I'm not pregnant, or a bunch of other what ifs. I feel like testing everyday lol to make sure. I don't even feel pregnant this time, except for being extremely tired.
Did you test a few times before getting in to see the dr?

Re: The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
i got a BFP very early like you. I was a POAS addict bc I could not stand the wait and liked the reassurance of seeing the line on the HPT
My doctor did offer to have me come in to take blood to verify that I was preggo before my first appt (at 7 weeks) but I didn't feel it was necessary bc of all the positive HPT tests.
CONGRATS AND WELCOME

There are no false positives. The tests are not wrong. You're pregnant!
My OB, and the majority of the ones posted about here on LIF, don't seem to want to see pg ladies until they're 8 weeks. There's really nothing to do until then. Happy & healthy 9 months to you!

Re: The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
Congrats!!!! My doctor wouldn't see me till 8 weeks either. I continued to test, and then took a test the morning of the appt b/c I was so afraid I'd get there, and he'd be like what are you talking about The wait is the worse!

I did the same thing. I think I took about 15 tests.

You're not the only one, I could have written your post almost word for word.
I also have my first appointment on 8/13. I got a very very very light bfp at 11dpo. I am now 20dpo and still take at least one hpt a day It's just so reasuring to see the line get darker!

Re: The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
First of all, Congratulations on the BFP!!!
I know the majority of doctors tell you not to come in until 8 weeks. Personally, I'm happy my doctor, who I only first went to when I got my BFP, is not like that. He wants you in there as soon as you get a positive HPT. He believes there's a lot to be done during the first weeks of pregnancy, which can be a very critical time for any pregnancy. For example, he put me on progesterone supplements, baby aspirin and extra folic acid when I first saw him. He even did a sono to check the sack.
I guess it's up to you if you want to find another practice that doesn't have the 8 week policy or maybe just call your midwife and express your concerns and see if you can come in earlier.
Good luck!

ITA. I am so grateful my Dr saw me at 5 weeks, took bloodwork and gave me a sonogram at 6 weeks. I feel there is so much vital information people should hear from their Dr, not read online or look up themselves, before 8 weeks.
That plus I would have gone nuts waiting for a first appointment at 8 weeks! I dont know how people have that much patience!

Re: The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
I am 5 weeks and a few days. I'm not going to see my doc for another week and a half. I will be 7 weeks exactly when I see my doc. I am also completely nervous and I tested again the other night just to make sure Im still preggo !!! I am going to be a wreck until I go to the doc !

Re: The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
My practice doesn't take us til 8 weeks too. When I had DC 2 I was a little upset. But I was still pregnant when I got there. My appointment isn't until Aug 17th. I've tested twice since my 1st BFP. Still pregnant! I won't be testing anymore though.

Re: The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
I took at least 7 test (all different kinds) before the doc visit.
I had some anxiety because I was spotting early on and kept calling the office so they ended up seeing me earlier than 8 weeks..around 5-6.
If you have any concerns you can call ask them about it in the meantime.
I liked going at 5-6 weeks all I saw was a dot that was flickering on the sono (heartbeat) (but too soon to hear it) and the sac and everything looked good and I felt better. I liked going early - I liked seeing the dot turn into a bigger blob by 8 weeks, 12 weeks. big differences. see if they will break the rules for you or like others said consider someone else that doesn't wait so long if you really want (you can always switch back later to your midwife - oo but thats kinda mean to the dr who agrees to see you early -right? Pregnancy makes me think so sneaky - I feel so mean)

Re: The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
My OB didint see me until 8 weeks (thats pretty normal) but I was seeing an RE when I got PG (own my own though) and my RE did 2 blood tests and the initial sono. SO waiting till 8 weeks was not so bad since I already had a sono.

Re: The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
I got my BFP 5 days after AF was due and my OB wanted to see me asap. (with all of my pregnancies) At that point I was 5 weeks. They were able to squeeze me in. Good luck!..

Re: The waiting period between BFP and seeing the dr
My appointment was also around 8 weeks and that was even after having a prior miscarriage. I had special bloodwork done when I first got a positive test to make sure everything was okay but no early sonogram.
My symptoms didn't kick in until about 5.5 - 6 weeks so for a week I didn't even feel pregnant. If it wasn't for the blood tests I would have thought I imagined it!
The waiting is very hard. I have about 3 weeks until my next sonogram and waiting for that appointment is just as hard if not harder. I keep praying we still see a in there.
Congratulations!
