Spinoff to C-Section TTC waiting period

How many c-section Mommies want their next birth to be VBAC. For me I don't...the C-section was not bad at all for me and neither was the recovery. I would rather have a scheduled c-section then be tortured for 3 days of being induced with no progress like what happened for me with DD. My OB did say that I do have an option of having VBAC but for me I was so deathly afraid of internals and they hurt like a beeyotch so I can't imagine what pushing a kid out of there must feel likeChat Icon

Re: Spinoff to C-Section TTC waiting period

I had a c-section and will have another one. I spent 7 hours throwing up in the recoverhy room It was rough recovery afterwards. I cannot take pain killers due to my body intolerance for them so...it was tough! But still cannot conceive delivering another way. I loved being pain free and be able to see DS.

Re: Spinoff to C-Section TTC waiting period

I had a vbirth and then 2 c/s and if I were having another child, I'd want a VBAC. I'm not sure if they offer VBACs after 2 c/s and I'm not having anymore children anyway but I did want one after my first c/s. My first c/s was bc she was breech and my OB thought it'd be a great candidate for a VBAC but #3 was also a breech baby so it was another c/s. My vbirth was such a great experience and while the c/s wasnt horrible in the end (except in the hospital for the first few days due to gas buildup which was so painful), I still didn't want another. I also went into labor on my own with all 3 but but since I knew #2 & #3 were a c/s the only one it really mattered with was the first . It was never a case of needing to be induced or not progressing. Tough call, it's such a personal decision.

Re: Spinoff to C-Section TTC waiting period

I had an emergency C/s and Im not able to deliver a baby vaginally b/c my cervix is scarred shut with scar tissue from previous surgeries.

I hate this fact and want to deliver naturally and would opt for a VBAC is it were a possibility but Im not able to.

Next time, Im going right for the C Section. It was too much for me..the waiting, the inducing, the waiting, the inducing..All of that for 30 hours to only get to 2cms...I healed very nicely from the C-section and would do it again.

Re: Spinoff to C-Section TTC waiting period

I would really like to do a VBAC. I was very sad that my delivery ended up being a c-section. However, after discussing it at length with my parents' friend, who was an OB/GYN for many many years (still does gyno) and who I trust implicitly, I have decided to do a c-section if I have any more children.

I was CRUSHED when I had to give in to having a c-section (19 hours of labor, Cervadil + Pitocin ... never got past 2 cm). I would *love* a VBAC, but after discussing it with my OB at my post-partum visit, I'm not sure it will be in my best interest. We will see when the time comes, but I have a feeling it will be another c-section for me (but I will hold onto hope that it won't be!).

Re: Spinoff to C-Section TTC waiting period

As horrible as my C/section recovery was, I am so afraid of a Vaginal Birth. I don't think I could handle the pain and am not very good at following instructions! I don't think we are having any more children, but I would do a c/section again!

Wow, I am surprised so many previous c/s mommies are not more into VBAC. I had a c/s with my first purely because he was breech. I had a great recovery and felt wonderful (no meds either!).

I wanted nothing more than a VBAC for my second and I was able to do it. Chat Icon By far, the BEST experience ever! I had a great c/s recovery and the recovery from my VBAC was a million times better. I would prefer not to have major surgery if I didn't have to. That was just me. There are certains factors you must meet in order to VBAC, and you can't be induced or have a version. The risks of uterine rupture are so small, I take those risks anyday over having another c/s.

If we have a third, it will be a v-birth again if all conditions are right.

After my last job and handling a number of VBAC suits I personally wouldn't take the chance of a VBAC for me or my child - it definitely isn't for me. So as much as I would like to have gone vaginally I will definitely have a section for the next one.

definitely another Csection, i didn't think it was that bad. I don't think its worth trying to risk a VBAC.

I wouldn't want a VBAC.....no thanks. I'll go the C-section route again. No sense in "blowing out" both parts of my body (take that one with a grain of salt everyone) as Jenny McCarthy would say Chat Icon

Nothing in me wants a VBAC. I loved my c-section. The most magically 11 minutes I have ever been through. I had zero pain afterwards. As long as I already have the scar, I am okay with leaving the hospital with my stomach being held together rather then a tear down under.

I had 2 c/s. Even though my 1st c/s was horrible, I wasnt willing to take the risk of rupture with a VBAC, and I figured I already had a scar why damage the area below too...... BTW my 2nd c/s was soooooooo easy and very little pain

Re: Spinoff to C-Section TTC waiting period

if that 1% chance of a third came to life, ummm going for the C all the way.

I had a brutal V birth with my 1st and my pain with the c was daisies and sunshine compared to my recovery with the v-nEVER want to go through that again and i still battling wounds from that birth. NO WAY, C all the way!

Re: Spinoff to C-Section TTC waiting period

I had a scheduled c-section because DD was Frank Breech. As long as the next one isn't upsidedown in there I'd like a VBAC. I don't do well with any kind of anesthetic. I was in recovery for 6 or 7 hours after my c-section because my blood pressure was that of a dead person's and my temperature was in the low 80's. I had 4 other surgeries over the last 10 years and every time I'm in recovery FOREVER!

Had an emergency C/S with DD (umbilical cord was too short) and I'm a scheduled C/S with DS. I wasn't given the option of a VBAC.
