Thinking of moving to IUI
DH and I have been going the natural route, but I am wondering if we should consider IUI. Does it really increase your chances that much? We are not dealing with a male issue....it's all me and my main problem is ovulation. So not sure if doing IUI really makes sense.

Re: Thinking of moving to IUI
no issues with dh but i have pcos and we winded up doing clomid & iuis. with ds it took a total of 6 iuis (had 2 mc in btwn) and this time around it took 3 iuis to get a bfp. we did bd after the iuis as a just in case - who knows what really got me pregnant - the iui or bding.
if it were me i say go for it. it does increase ur chances of about 20% - seems low but i believe reg bding is a much much smaller %
are u on medication to induce ovulation?

Re: Thinking of moving to IUI
i had PCOS and ovulation was my main problem. in 6 cycles i did timed intercourse every time. i never once did an IUI. after each failed cycle i asked dr. B if it was time to move on. he kept telling me it was important to do it the way i wanted. unlike the PP, i was told IUI only increased the chances 8% over TI. to DH and I, 8% wasnt enough to take the fun out of what we were trying to do. everything about my cycles were heavily monitored and medicated to get me to ovulate, so we wanted to try to leave at least ONE part of it natural. we had a ton of fun, and i conceived twice that way, both ending in m/c. after 6 cycles it was determined that as far as ovulation went it was safer to just do IVF. so ultimately i got my sticky BFP through the least natural of ways, IVF. but now that DH and I look back on it, we could care less how we got here... so i guess in the end i wouldnt have changed a thing to this point. we def had a lot of fun trying, and had i not had other issues with both m/c and hyperstimulation, we prob couldve conceived our sticky with just ovulation induction, TI, and immune/thrombo meds. it wasnt meant to be, but in the end i dont care what i had to do as long as i get to go home with a

Thanks! I am kind of thinking the same thing. I will talk to my dr about it at my next appt, but if it doesn't increase my chances all that much, I am not sure if I am willing to shell out all the money it will cost me just yet. And DH is kind of anti-IUI. He would rather go the natural route. Personally I don't care what I have to do, as long as it gets me a healthy little

I was told it just takes out all the variables. They know how big the eggs are, when they will be released and when the sperm is there.
Good Luck!

We are going this route this month. I will try it and see what happens. I just feel like we have been naturally trying for so long...I need to change it up

Re: Thinking of moving to IUI
i would def advise to try IUI. It does increase chances, more than we know. It is not painful and as long as insurance covers it, I am all for it

That's exactly what I am going to check into at my next appt. I want to see what my out of pocket expense would be.

Are you in NY? There is a NYS mandate for unlimited. You would still pay copays, of course.

They only charged me the regular $15 for the office visit. I only went for a consult and bloodwork though. Specialist fee is usually $30 so
