Does anyone think that Jack might of known he was worse than everyone thought he was? When they were in the hospital and she was going to make the calls and get food, he called her name, she turned around and then he was just looking at her like he wanted to say something then he said she was blocking the tv. She obviously wasn't blocking the tv until he called her name.

Yes, the impression I got was that he knew he was in bad shape and he kind of held out until she left the room so that she didn't have to see it happen.

Yes he almost seemed relieved to have her gone when she went to the vending machines. Like he could stop pretending.

It was an ok episode. I think the collective "we" talked about it for so long and speculated that no matter how they revealed that he died it would be disappointing. I hope that they are starting a transition now to the future with Randall and his girls.

Re: This is Us **possible spoilers**

I didn't watch again and was exhausted last night by the time we watched (cleaning up after party.. LOL), but people are saying he sick all day and was going to have a heart attach before the fire. I read some posts on FB on the This is Us site saying he looked out of it all day, drinking lots of water, etc. Said the fire didn't wake him, but the start of a heart attach did.
Who knows? I didn't pay that much attention to it. Have to see it again.

My mom thinks that as well, we were texting during episode. I didn't take it that way at all, but she thinks he knew he was in bad shape and didn't want to say.

Predictable. So it wasn't as emotional as I thought it would be. I actually cried more during the Super Bowl commercials than this episode. lol

I’m over it honestly. I’m not emotionally connected anymore. People were posting how distraught they were. Nothing. I feel now it’s jumped the shark. I know how he died, no need to watch anymore.

I didn't cry. I thought it was anticlimactic but that was inevitable as they have been building up the suspense for 2 years! I still love the show though.

Re: This is Us **possible spoilers**

I loved everything about it. Great episode, great acting, well done! I think the way he died was actually sadder in a way than if he'd died in the actual fire. It broke my heart because he seemed so close to surviving the whole thing. When you hear his voice say "Bec" when she was at the vending machine.. And when Kevin was talking to his dad at the tree Chat Icon So many emotional moments. Can't wait to see how this series continues to develop.

As predictable as it was, I was so tense during the fire scene.Chat Icon It was so dumb. We knew Jack died & were pretty sure it was after the got out.

After that though, I was more interested in the current day story line. I want to know why Deja showed up at Randall's house! What did her mom do now?

Re: This is Us **possible spoilers**

I thought it was well written, mostly bc it seems very real, instead of some crazy story line. But my dad died in a similar situation, not a fire, but he had surgery on his ankle and was absolutely fine and at rehab, I spoke to him on the phone for the longest time ever and the following day he had a massive stroke and we lost him, so watching this I was an absolute mess bc when my brother called me I didn’t believe him just like she didn’t believe the doctor.

I also loved the Tess story line, I didn’t see it coming!

Re: This is Us **possible spoilers**

I thought it was a really, really well done episode. I usually can't stand Mandy Moore but her acting was, for the most part, phenomenal IMO.

I loved that there were also some very happy, uplifting moments and ended on a really beautiful note with Tess becoming a social worker.

Now that the hype of his death is over I wonder how the show may change. Up until now, most episodes foreshadow or reference his "mysterious" death in some way. Now what will be the focus? Is the show going to time hop into the future more often or was this a one time thing?

I liked it. I havent cried during any of the episodes before. Just not that type of person, but I did cry when Jack was trying to get them all out of the house.
Im interested to see what is happening with Deja and the FUTURE -- so cool.

I really liked it. I think they did it the right way. No big dramatic exit by some crazy means but more of the here one minute gone the next. I had something like this happen in my life. A routine surgery gone bad so this hit me hard.

Great episode last night.

I get confused with Kevin's character though. The teenage Kevin is very good-looking, but I see no personality from him. Is he supposed to be so stiff and cold? I don't even see a relationship with him and Kate at all. I thought they way they are as adults they were always so close as kids.
I wish I could see Randall and Kevin more getting closer... unless they never were, but he did say he helped Randal with his wife now.

I think that Jack dying was a turning point in Kate and Kevin's relationship. At one point last night Kate was crying and Kevin reached out and put his arms around her shoulders.

Last night was a great episode. IMO better than the one from Superbowl.

I am thinking when Rebecca says to the boys they don't have to be the man of the house now, Kevin might take that role in Kate's life. At the end he hugged her when they were standing by the tree, maybe that was the turning point for him. He also grabbed Randall's arm in the car like "We got eachother" look.

Was so good last night!!!

Yeah, I saw that but still didn't see much compassion behind the hug. Maybe we'll see him get more personality in time. As an adult he has such personality and that was good for acting.

I think that as a young kid and teen Kevin has always seemed self centered plus felt a little left out, like they said in the therapy session, jack always looked our for kate and rebecca was always more concerned with Randall, i think he was a nice kid but as he grew up he started distancing himself from the family spending all his time with Sophie and being a football star, and then Jack's death was hopefully a turning point for him to become closer to his siblings,

plus maybe the kid can't act lol
