Re: "This is why I'm glad I have sons!" Do you ever get this?
People are just annoying and rude... you will hear comments no matter what. I have a boy and always hear how lucky I am, not to have to go through the teenage years with a girl. 1. I am going to have more kids so may end up with a girl 2. Nothing scares me more than a boy going through puberty

Comments like that really show the person's ignorance and the sexism that is sadly still so prevalent in our "modern" society.

I have two boys and all I've gotten is "no girl huh??? maybe next time..." like they feel bad for me or something.
I would be annoyed if I was you. I have to say that I am guilty of saying "That's why I'm glad I have sons.." It's not right and now I will NEVER say that again.

ETA I did have a coworker tell me "a daughter is a daughter all of her life, a son is a son till he takes a wife" upon learning it was a and that remains one of the worst things anyone has ever said to me
Not to fear....I'm married to big mama's boy. (and hope my DS will be a mama's boy too )

I'd like to introduce those people to DH so he can tell them what trouble he and his friends got into during their teen years. Raising children is not easy no matter if they are boys or girls.
Kids are kids and teenagers are teenagers regardless of gender it's how YOU raise them that matters. Tell those people that make having either a daughter or a son sound negative to shove it. Any child is a blessing and depends on you to show them how to be a good person.

I always say this jokingly due to the fact I would be in BIG trouble if I had a girl to shop for!!

You know the more I think about this the more it makes me laugh People can be really naive. I just think of Dh and his friends and think its a miracle they came out of college alive! The sheer stupidity and danger of some of the things they did would give my MIL a heart attack!

Not true....my DH is still attached by the umbilical cord
And although I do have a DS, I have heard the phrase and think it's retarded.

I have 4 boys and I hear all the time, "Be glad you have boys girls are so much harder" OK I don't get it but isn't it based on the kids personality & not the gender?!

We are a family of 3 girls. My husband is the only male. He jokes all the time that his job in life is to keep his daughters off the pole.
Boy or girl there are all sorts of problems and trouble that could occur.
Hopefully since we will be setting a good example at home they will know better.
Right or wrong there will always be that double standard with boys vs girls.

I think both genders have their ups & downs.
It makes no sense to me when you hear a girl get raped that you'd say you're glad you have sons. Someone's son did the raping. I'm sure that parent is going through a whole lot of anguish.
1000000000000% what I was going to say
