Those of us who just quit smoking
I am entering my 3rd week and feel pretty good. The first week was easy, 2nd week was definitely more difficult. I started a running program to train for the LI half marathon and that really has been helping.
Over the weekend we went to "The Bodies" exhibition in NYC. I've seen lots of pictures of smokers lungs, but to see REALLY see REAL smoker's lungs really hit home for me. Also, the organs with different types of cancers too
How is everyone else doing?

Good for you!! I just hit my 7 week mark on Saturday. It not easy and I miss it terribly!!! But it's the best thing in the world and we should be very proud of ourselves!!! After 7 weeks it's still difficult sometimes!! You never get rid of the craving but you just learn how to deal with them better and ignore them now!! Keep it up!!!

Re: Those of us who just quit smoking
Thanks and for you too! What makes it easier is DH doesn't smoke (he is an ex smoker and HATED that I smoked) I know it's going to be hardest for me when I go out with my girlfriends bc they all smoke, and it kind of goes hand in hand.
Thanks!!

I really need to quit
If they ever came out with safe cigarettes, I would def go back (well at least when I'm having a few drinks)
It really stinks. I miss them too. But I just keep thinking that god forbid I was to get a smoking related illness that it was something I could have prevented.
ps- I also think you really have to be ready to say goodbye to them forever.

So true...it's been a few years for me, but I swear the craving never goes away. Sometimes when I am really stressed I repeat "I'm not a smoker, I'm not a smoker."
Luckily, there is no one left to smoke with anymore.

I quit on 2/5 and I'm still having major issues. I mean, its not that long but I thought the worst would have been over by now...

Last year I quit for almost 3 months! Unfortunately I was out a few times and told myself "I'll just have one because I'm drinking"
1 turned into more and that turned into me buying a pack- and next thing I know I was back This time I told myself I won't even let myself have one.

I quit when I found out I was pregnant on NY's day
I swear to not go back to it, like I did after my dd was born
I told DH that he has to quit too

I'll tell you honestly that when I quit (Dec. 27, 2006) I stayed home on New Year's Eve even though DH & I had an invite that would have allowed us to party all night with no driving involved just so I could get past the hump. It was the best thing I could have done for myself.
