Those of you who have made cake pops- added another question
What cake/frosting combination did you use?
ETA: How far in advance can they be made?

Re: Those of you who have made cake pops-
I liked the vanilla /vanilla the best!
I tried chocolate cake/vanilla frosting...but the cake was too moist and the pops came off their sticks.
I tried the vanilla cake/chocolate frosting....but for me...the chocolate was too much when you covered the pops in more chocolate.
I tried Vanilla cake with strawberry icing.....it was pretty good actually...this was my 2nd favorite batch.
Now you got my in the mood to make them again!
Good luck!

Just curious, do you dip the stick in the melted chocolate before putting it in the cake?

Thanks! So with the Vanilla Cake mix and Vanilla frosting did you use chocolate or white chocolate?

I did and make sure you freeze the cake ball part BEFORE you dip into chocolate for the outside, then freeze again.

Re: Those of you who have made cake pops-
I made the little cupcakes that you see on the Bakerella website so first I hand dipped the bottom of the "cupcake" in brown chocolate....then I dipped the loli stick in the same chocolate and stuck it in. I refrigerated for a few hours and then I dipped the top part in pink candy melts...and sprinkled sprinkles.
I did a few balls as well because the cupcakes are time consuming...and I used pink, brown and white candy melts.

Re: Those of you who have made cake pops-
Oh...i forgot...with both the balls and cupcakes...I refrigerated the dough first...then an hour later I inserted the chocolate dipped stick...and then I refrigerated again before dipping. I have no idea if im making sense!

Re: Those of you who have made cake pops-
I made them for the first time for DS' 1st birthday last week. I used:
Butter golden cake Vanilla frosting Melted hershey's semi sweet chocolate chips for dipping them
They were DEEEEELICIOUS and people loved them.
Next time I'm going to try banana supreme cake (I make banana cupcakes all the time and people devour them), throw in some mini chocolate chips when I mix in the vanilla frosting, and frost with semi sweet chocolate again. I can practically taste it!
I'd also like to try red velvet cake with vanilla or cream cheese frosting, dipped in semi sweet chocolate.
My BFF made them with chocolate cake and chocolate frosting, but she said the cake was way too moist and they didn't turn out that well, nor did they taste as good as she thought they would. I'm thinking too much chocolate?
ETA: I made them as cake balls instead of cake pops (didn't use the stick in them).

Re: Those of you who have made cake pops-
I use whipped cream cheese. Frosting makes them too sweet, IMO.

Oh interesting! Do you just whip the CC yourself like with a blender? I make the oreo truffles with softened cc, but didn't think to do the cake pops with cc too.

Re: Those of you who have made cake pops- added another question
have made the oreo ones (crushed oreos & cream cheese), red velvet and cream cheese frosting and the carrot cake and cream cheese frosting
the carrot cakes one were my favorite. I dont think I'd make them any earlier than 3 or 4 days before an event

No - I use a large container of Temptee. You can't taste the cream cheese flavor, you taste the cake flavor and it keeps it really moist without being too "wet".
