Those of you with Wall mounted TVs
Where do you have your electronics...like a stereo & DVD player?
Right below our mounted TV will be a fireplace & windows to either side.
Looking for ideas

Re: Those of you with Wall mounted TVs
You can put it on an end table next to your couch and there is something you can buy (I think it's just a special remote control) that will beam from the tv to the cable box etc. You have to ask the guys at Circuit City or PC Richards or wherever b/c I am not sure what you really call it...Does that make sense? Sorry-I am not that good w/ the technical stuff.

Re: Those of you with Wall mounted TVs
is that dead space to the left of your back wall (fireplace) ? It seems like your on the stairs...
You can make a media closet right there and run wires though the wall and like the above poster mention, you can get a transmitter so you can use all your remotes while the boxs are hidden..
your only other option as of now is to use the mantle which i'm sure you would put decor type stuff

Re: Those of you with Wall mounted TVs
You could get an IR Extender. Wired and wireless IR Extenders are available. The link above is Scientific Atlanta's wired IR extender. Scientific Atlanta makes the cable boxes for cablevision (Assuming you have Cablevision). This one works with the Cablevision remote and any device it can control.
Another option would be to get a universal remote control such as a Logitech with a wireless IR Extender. Logitech makes a wireless IR Extender you can see on their website. This option would allow you to put your equipment up to 100 feet away from the TV. The equipment can be stored in a closet, basement or other room. This would be nice for your setup. All you would see is the TV on the wall.
Don't be scared off by the pricing of the remotes and wireless IR Extender you see on Logitech's site. There are many other manufactures. BestBuy and Circuit City etc carry Logitech and others as well. The Logitech universal remote works well. We have one.
Good Luck!

Re: Those of you with Wall mounted TVs
thanks for the options, I will definitely look into them!
To the left of the fire place is the door that will go out to our deck/porch. And a walk through to the kitchen.

Re: Those of you with Wall mounted TVs
My DH hooked up my sister and FBIL's flat panels by using a blaster (IR/RF converter)- Universal Remote
All the components are in a closet in their basement.

Re: Those of you with Wall mounted TVs
logitech are great remotes, ( i own two) but shop online for much better products... (i hate worst(best) buy)
what is to the right of kitchen pass though? (next to the door) For some reason I think you have a dead space there where you can have your media stuff.

I have something similar. I actually have my cable box hidden in a closet. The component in the closet sends a signal out and chnages the channel. I love it!

I showed the one door way into the kitchen from the great room. Then to the right of the window that looks into the kitchen is another entrance into the kitchen and the EIT area.
