Those staying home on New Years

What do you do to make the evening special?

We are having another couple over for dinner (the parents of Dh's godson, so the little cutie will be here too).

What should we have for dinner?

Dh and I usually have lobster and champagne.

Re: Those staying home on New Years

One year we made a really nice dinner (filet mignon, champagne, etc)

Another year we did a bunch of appetizers - chicken fingers, fried ravioli, potatoe skins, etc.

Neither of us are really into it so we kind of treat it as any other day.

Re: Those staying home on New Years

How old is the godson?

Whenever I have friends over for a small party, we get finger foods. Chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, pigs in a blanket, mini-quiche and other frozen munchies.

For those who don't want to drink but want to feel special, we have a few bottles of sparkling cider (I will be drinking it this year)

If the child is young enough that he could have some finger foods and the adults could have a nice dinner, try surf and turf. Bring out the lobster but add filet mignon with it. Some nice baked potatoes (the loose ones you pick in the supermarket), creamed spinach, a salad and some garlic bread.

me too!
Last year was our 1st new years together and we spent it in Chicago...this year my DH has off and we are spending it low key at home. I think I am going to make a lot of fun foods that we both love and lots of bubbly! (maybe start the evening with margarittas)

Re: Those staying home on New Years

We are having a wine and cheese party with some of our friends. I love that our friends are all low key like us. Works out perfectly now that we have a baby that we all like to stay in.Chat Icon
