Those that have been to St. Lucia
Is it true that there is not a direct flight into St. Lucia and you have to take a charter flight to get onto the island?

That is somewhat true. We took a flight from JFK to St. Lucia and never got off the plane. It stopped in Antigua for a half an hour though. That was with Air Jamaica and goes to the airport 2 hours from the Sandals resorts (if that is where you are going). If you do the charter ones, you end up only 15 minutes from the resorts.

Yes, we had to stop over at Barbados on the way down, and on the way back it was Antigua...you thinking of going??

It is worth the stop.
Going down, we didnt have to get off the plane at all.
On the way back, we got off, but only waited an hour.

We had to do the same- we had to go back into the airport in Antigua to go through security again, and it was a zoo, but this was on New Years Day when there were tons of people flying.
Despite the chaos, I preferred that to flying in on a small plane- I don't care for those.

We flew a regular sizr plane on the way down - we had a stop in Puerto Rico and then got on another plane that had about 70-80 passenger seats and we flew into the airport about 20 minutes from the resorts
