Those that ordered food for baptism/communion at home
I need help deciding what to do for baptism and was wondering what others did..
I've never brought food in for a party before ( mainly cause I figured I'd save money, partly cause I love to cook) but I don't want to be running around for this especially since its a larger number of people than we usually have.

We had the Baptism at the end of June, so we had it at home and in the yard. I ordered from a catering company who provided everything, and I did specialty wraps and panini's as well as a few trays of meatballs, sausage and peppers, penne ala vodka, etc. And it came with breads and salads too.

Re: Those that ordered food for baptism/communion at home
We rented a hall for all three DCs baptisms but we ordered food for each event.
DC#1 - outside catering by restaurant. Failed miserably -- didn't order enough food because I went on their manager's estimates. Felt HORRIBLE running out of food.
DCs#2-3 - We split it up, made some at home and had some catered Home: Tossed salad, ziti, sausage and peppers, chicken tenders/fingers for the kids, turkey & rice casserole, orzo salad Catered: 2 x 6' Heroes (one American and one Ital) plus side salads
DC#1's event was $$$, while we saved a lot of money for the other kids' events plus we then had a lot of leftovers.

I really want the hot food but I am nervous with the hot food about running out of food( theres a family coming who always piles up their plates- and at christmas dh's grandmother and I didn't even getting the steak because it had run out from them)... and it seems to cost the most starting around $15pp... I suppose I could increase the number of people but then its even pricer.

I don't like to order hot food - mostly because I don't like to eat it. I also don't do hero's. For me the best option is sandwich meat platters. I did them for DS's birthday and christening and everyone loved it. Everyone had a choice for what they wanted and we had plenty for everyone. As a plus, I felt more comfortable not having the sterno's out with tons of kids running around.
