What is your (long run) mileage up to this weekend and what race are you training for?

I am training for the ING Georgia marathon on 3/21 and running 20 on Saturday morning! I only gave myself a 2 week taper this time so after Saturday one more 20 and my long training runs are over till marathon day!

Re: Those training for 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon, marathon....

I'm not going by any training sched, kinda just made one up myself lol for the month of Feb my long run is only 6miles but for March I plan on doing 8miles and April 10miles. I don't plan on actually running a full half until May at the race. I curently run on a treadmill and only get out once if lucky which I'll do my long run. I figured starting in March it should be getting nicer out and that's when I'll start picking up my millage. This is my 1st half and hope the amount of training I can get it will help.

i'm training for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in DC on April 11 and my long run this week will hopefully be 6 miles. I've been horrible about getting my runs in this month and i'm starting to feel very worried about the race. I really want to improve my time from last year, but not sure if I'll be able to now.

I'm doing the LI half in May. So far my longest run has been 8 miles but I haven't had a long run in the past week or two because of foot problems I'm having (pain, tingling, numbness, burning in my feet, causing me to stop my run early) Chat Icon I hope to get this resolved soon and get back into my program. Eventually I want to get up to 12 miles at least so I can feel confident that I'll be able to complete the 13.1 distance.

I'm with you with ING Georgia and so not prepared. January was a bad month...I fell...had tonsilitis, followed by bronchitis.

I did 14 this weekend and am hoping to finish up with 16, 18, 20, 12, race

I hear this race is hilly, so I'm just doing it for the experience, not expecting PR - I'll save that for the fall.

I ran miles 14-20 as part of my run the other day (part of the race goes through my neighborhood)...and miles 16-18 are really hilly. One or two of those miles are new...they changed the course and one of the hills at about 17 is a mountain...not long but really steep...but it is preceded by another long hill and others within the next mile or so...it's tough! I had a goal and then a long shot goal...I just want to hit the goal...I'm really nervous.

UGH! so not what I wanted to hear! I have a twi different goals as well. Do you know why they took most of the pace groups away? could they not get enough pacers? it seemed when I signed up they had a group every 10-15 minutes...but now it's only 3:40, 4:15 and 5:00. BQ is 3:45 for me, but I would be too scared to start with the 3:40 group - I just think I would tank - especially with those hills that you are talking about. I'm nervou too...that's a sucky place for hills, but I gues it's better than mile 23!

I'm going to let BQing go until the fall with Steamtown.

Glad to hear I am pretty similar to those doing the Long Island half. My long run was 6 today, I am getting REALLY bored on the treadmill, hoping for some better weather soon!Chat Icon

Re: Those training for 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon, marathon....

I have been outside for the past 3 weekends and although it has been cold and was not able to run too quick due to the weather i warmed up after 5 mins. I am going to the caribbean in 3 weeks and that will be my 8 or 9 mile run there and I will be doing it on the treadmill indoors Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
