Those who are going to deliver while having a toddler at home
This may sound stupid... but are you planning on leaving dc schedule ahead of time with the person incase you go into labor or are you going to let them wing it.. I rarely leave son with a sitter as dh works nights and and i am a sahm.... as a result no one really knows his schedule... so i am trying to figure out if i should have it pre-written down for my parents

Re: Those who are going to deliver while having a toddler at home
I'm having a scheduled c/s so the planning is obviously easier.
BUT...if I was to labor on my own and go through all that....my parents or MIL would definitely be on hand to watch DD at a drop of a hat. I figure what I would do is when and if it got close to push time...or we knew the baby was coming...I would have someone text or call whomever was watching DD and have them bring her to the hospital.
I think for me, if it was possible to keep her on her schedule I would, but wouldn't care if for one day she went off it.

ds isnt on a major schedule, he just has a regimented eating schedule (not by my choice) and always has... i swear you can tell the time by his stomach....so it really is more of a letting them know what times he eats... i dont really care about the napping or sleep schedule as that is typically up in the air anyways...

Re: Those who are going to deliver while having a toddler at home
We are still planning this all out but DH wants DS home with him while I am in the hospital because he's concerned that all the chaos will mess up this good thing we have going with him right now.
The game plan (right now) is to probably have my ILs meet us at the hospital and take DS home if I deliver at night into the moring. If it's during the day they will take him for the day and DH will pick him up after he leaves the hospital. Then my guys will come visit during the day but be home for naptime.

that is essentially our plan since ds will be 15 months old... my parents are only a mile away so they are just going to come here but once the baby is born my dh will have him with him.. it is more important to us that he doesnt have too much change since i am a sahm and he spends most of his days at home and my parents REFUSE to stay by us... we dont want too much to change since he is too young

Re: Those who are going to deliver while having a toddler at home
I'm having a scheduled c-section. Even though both our moms are close by, I think they both want to be at the hospital. So I might either see if one of my SILs can take him for the day or if his sitter can. However, I am convinced I won't make it to my due date, so I'm sure planning will be useless!!

Yes. I will probably write something out and have the person who is going to watch DS while we are in the hospital hang out here for bedtime and daytime routines maybe a few weeks b/f. B/c my mom is usually the only one that watches DS for any extended period of time and she will be with me in the delivery room.
I think its def. a good idea!
ETA: It will be my sister watching him...

Re: Those who are going to deliver while having a toddler at home
Absolutely write it down. It was a life saver when I went into labor a couple weeks ago. We ended up having a few different people switch off watching DS until MIL/FIL could arrive. I had his daily schedule, food/snack options, and all emergency numbers typed up and left on a table for whoever was watching DS. It saved us trouble of having to explain everything to someone when I was busy dealing with breathing between contractions!
