I got my tatttoo when I was 20 and I do not regret it.Its on my loswerback though so I never see it, maybe thats why

I def regret getting my tatoo. It is a long tribal design on my lower back ( no idea of the meaning) I got it when I was 17 yrs old.

I got my first (of 5) when I was 18 and I dont regret it. Its my least favorite of them all, but I love it bc its my first tattoo and I have a fondness for it. Since then all of my others have had some kind of significance or meaning to me whereas I just liked the design for this one. Plus all of my others, I only do black and grey now, no color. This one has color. That would be my least favorite thing about it.
Im also not thrilled with its position anymore.....back in the day when I got it (1997) jeans came up MUCH higher than they do now. So at the time it sat right above the top of my jeans off to the left of my spine. However, now that jeans are much lower, its kind of just randomly floating on my back.

yes..
I love my tattoos but not the one that is messed up and looks like a overgrown shoe..It was going to cinderella's glass slipper and it just is bad..oh yeah and it also matches my best friend.

18 years ago and while I don't regret it at all...i'm just "eh" about it.
It's on my hip so it doesn't come out often.
it's pretty faded though

I waited until I was 25 to get my 1st tat and don't regret it one bit. I had wanted the same one since I was 18, so I knew it was right for me.
Had i gotten it when I was 18.....I'd also have a grateful dead dancing bear on my ankle which, thankfully at 25 I realized was NOT right for me at all
{{no offense to anyone who has a bear}}
I also don't regret the 2 that followed the original. They are all original, had much thought put into them and have deep meaning for me

Actually got my first tat about a year ago, at 29. I designed it myself and it is in the common lower back spot. It has a crown and musical staff and notes which both really mean something to me. I always wanted one but couldn't decide what I wanted. I designed it myself so it had more meaning. DH and I both got tattoos during our honeymoon week and I designed them both. DH says he loves looking at his and knowing that I designed it just for him I kind of wish I had put mine in a better spot cause I never get to see where it is. DH does though and he LOVES it! I can't wait to get my second one, hopefully soon.

I totally agree! I got a small sun on my lower left back when i was 18 and a few years later it was fading, so had a tattoo artist draw a butterfly around it. It's huge but I never see it so I haven't gotten sick of it (10 yrs later).

I want another one.
I do think it's important, very important to think thoroughly about WHAT you want and WHERE you want it. That's key to not regretting it later.

Yes, I regret BOTH of my tats. I was young, stupid, and thought it would be "cool". Then I got my first "real" job and had to keep them covered up. Then I had 3 kids, and have had "fun" explaining what they are, why I got them, and why they do not come off. If I LIKED them, it would not be a big deal, but I do not even like them. WISH I had the money to get them removed.

I have two which I got about 17 and 15 years ago. I designed and drew them both myself. I don't regret them (and they are both in places no one would ever see unless I showed them), but I should have researched the place a bit better because I think they could have come out nicer. I keep saying I'm going to get them retouched, but probably will never get around to it...

YES. I have a star on my hip and its in a TERRIBLE spot. Whenever I gain a few one of the points on the star curves up a little bit - If I ever get pregnant it's going to be a terrible sight
ETA: Me and my best friend at the time got matching ones of this - and to top it all off we are no longer friends

when I was 16 I got a tribal heart with flames coming out of it in the middle of my thigh.. it's not that I regret it.. but it's in the middle of my thigh.. not the smartest place for a tattoo..

yes ... i got two what i will call "jail house tattoos" when i was only 14 or 15 years old ... it was done in the backyard of someones house with a needle and ink ... it was a smiley face and ladybug on each of my thighs ...i regerted both of these the day i got them i feel into the fact that everyone else was doing it so then i had the compulsion to get them (yes i was stupid) i then got the smiley face covered when i was 17 by an apprentice with a butterfly that had heart in the middle ... it came out horrible so i then i got that covered with a huge gabera daisy (my favorite flower) ... the lady bug is still there i will be covering that too one day ...

i started getting tattooed at 18. I don't regret any of my tattoos and I'm heavily tattooed. I sat on ideas for awhile and made sure I went to top notch artists. I think that's the problem. a lot of people just get tattooed spur of the moment type thing. don't know anything about tattoos or artists, and pick stuff off the wall.
