Those who have stayed at the Hershey Lodge
Is the waterpark good for older kids (ages 9-12)?
We've never stayed there but are going in the Fall this year so figured it would be good to have the indoor pool and water area since the Hershey waterpark is closed. But from what I have seen in pictures, it seems like it might be more geared towards the little kids.
Are there slides and things there for older kids?

Re: Those who have stayed at the Hershey Lodge
I wouldn't really call it an indoor water park. It's more like an indoor pool with a couple of slides. We went in July of 2020 right when it reopened and my kids were 8, 9 & 12. They were fine there for a few hours but probably wouldn't have done more than that. I think we went two of the days we were there.

Ok thanks. We only plan to use it for a few hours here and there so I think it will suffice. I just thought it looked a little bit youngish in the pics I saw online. As long as it has a few decent sized slides that kids that age can enjoy I'm fine with it. The kids range from 9 to 12 so I was curious if it would be ok for them

It is a bit youngish but, the pool itself is nice and it has a couple of large slides. They also have the peanut butter cups you can walk across and try not to fall in to the pool. We stayed a couple hours as well when we went in fall 2020 - my kids were almost 11 and 8 1/2 at the time. I cant imagine staying there when it is full.
The arcade is eh... but it killed some time too.

I heard there is a bar in there where I can get a cocktail so I'm game! LOL
The park doesn't open until 2 pm in the Fall. So 2 pm to 10 pm and they have the Halloween stuff going on at night. Should be cool, but we'll need to kill some time before the park opens so I figured the water area at the Lodge would be a good idea

Yes, they do have a bar. However, we always pack alcohol and bring our own down to the pools when we go away.

Those who have stayed at the Hershey Lodge
We stayed there the year before last for Halloween and the water park is small but my kids had a good time. They also have some cute activities like candy bar bingo And they have a Mini golf course outside which is fun.. I highly recommend requesting a room right next to the water park in that Reese's wing. Those are the new and renovated rooms. One year we stayed in an older room and all of our stuff smelled like musty and gross. It was awful

Ugh I'm so nervous about this. I heard about the musty thing. I'm so skeeved out by hotels too and usually only stay at 4 to 5 star type places because of my skeeve level when it comes to this. But this wasn't my choice. It's only 2 nights so I know I have to just suck it up but I've been stressing. Question...when did you request that wing? At check in? Before? Should I call ahead of time?

I called before I checked in and explained that the last room we stayed in there had a very strong musty odor, and we really would like to be in the Reese's wing near the waterpark. I would check in as early as possible to increase your chances!

Thanks for the tip I'm definitely going to ask! We usually arrive early when traveling so hopefully we get lucky!

We stayed there too - it was nice as the hotel is large and it can be a long walk from some rooms to the pool (which is annoying with wet kids lol).

OMG it's like a maze there! The first time we stayed there, we literally got lost! Couldn't figure out how to get back to the lobby

Same! I don't know who designed that place but it's ridiculous!
I had also read on Trip Advisor to stay in the Kisses Tower which we did and it was updated and fine so if you can't get Reese's, that's a good back up plan. It's in the main part of the hotel so it's a quick elevator ride to the hotel lobby bar.
Also, the restaurant there...I can't think of what it's called...something with a bear...maybe Kodiaks or something like that....great food and even better drinks. Awesome spot. If you want to go off premises, we just went and ate at Iron Mill Brewery on Chocolate Ave. Live music, good beer and great food. Highly recommend. For dinner, apps and drinks for a family of 5, it was $88.

LOL to the lobby bar! Thanks for the tip. I need some insider info because I cannot tolerate a musty room. I'll end up sleeping in the car!

Wait, is that the Iron Hill Brewery? If so we ate there last year or the year before and it was SOOO good!
