Those who lease cars
I have a question if you guys don't mind answering if you can help me out.
I got a statement from NMAC (Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp) who does my lease.
Now, I know I pay sales tax to NYS. But I have a charge for Personal Property Tax. Do you pay PPT in New York State?
If anybody can shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate this because I need to pay this or question them over this (and it is such a PITA to get these people on the phone).'

Did you just get your car?
I lease a Nissian... and right after I got it- I got a bill for some wierd amount- for no reason-
When I got the people on the phone- I cant remember what they said the "fee" was for- and since
1. They couldnt give me any reason
2. I never signed ANYTHING agreeing or acknowledging this fee
I told them I wasnt paying it... and it was dropped ...
I know when my SIL lived n MD she paid an extra tax for her car... are you out of state?

Long story short...
I was living in CT when I got the car in 2004. I got the car from a dealer in Jersey City. The car was registered in NY in 2005.
I think I will probably call them because like you, I've gotten a couple of those funky bills.

my car is leased- I don't get a statement- they just take the money out of my checking account
it never changes- but if it went up- I would call them in 2 seconds

I the only reason I could think of is that the car was leased in a different state?
I never paid any kind of ppt on my lease in NY...but I live in NC and I get taxed on my car every year for my car...just got my first bill, its stinks

i had leased a car in NY, then moved to Fla for college, then back to NY... I definitely remember something happening with the taxes and my monthly payment when I moved, i just dont remember exactly what it was... some states you pay tax on the car monthly, and some states you cant do that...

Nope I get a monthly statement, and this pesky $300+ showed up last month and I didn't pay it because I am trying to figure it out.
I like Leasing, i just don't like that I can never get them on the phone

i lease a nissan and its the same thing every month. i never got any weird charges but if i did i would call asap to ask why.
