those who went past 40 weeks of pregnancy...

yup, I did it again Chat Icon ...dd#2 was due tuesday....and still nothing, not so much as a cramp, which is good but also bad, ob wants to induce on mon but after all i have been through with worrying about the c-section when she was breech and then transverse lie, I don't know if I want to do it....I would rather have a vag delivery again...it was so easy and pain free last time (well, relatively! Chat Icon )....

guess I just need words of wisdom or hugs....Chat Icon

Chat Icon i went into labor a week past my due date, b/c i was at 3CM from 40 weeks on and almost completely effaced, it made for such an easy labor and delivery. By the time i got to the hospital i was 5 CM and hit 10CM within 3-4 hours later. Lots of luck it happens soon for youChat Icon Chat Icon

Sorry to hear you went past your due date! I went to 41 weeks (with an induction in the end, my placenta was starting to deteriorate so it was that or a c-section). I know how frustrating this can be.

Good luck, I hope you can deliver on your own, but if you have an induction, hope it goes well. You could try all the folk rememdies and see if any work, they did not for me, but you never know.

Re: those who went past 40 weeks of pregnancy...

I went 2 days past my due date wth my second baby. I ended up having a FAST delivery.

With my 3rd baby I went past my due date by 6 days. So I have had it happen twice to me too.

I remember the waiting and dying to have them out. But your baby will come out so don't stress it. Just relax and enjoy your DD#1 while you have a little time left alone with her.Chat Icon

Re: those who went past 40 weeks of pregnancy...

I think unless there was a medical reason, I would probably try to wait it out. With DS I was induced 6 days past my due date because I had low fluid levels. I was very nervous about the induction, but I had a good experience and delivered vaginally.

My cousin was 10 or 11 days late with her first. She was induced and ended up delivering vaginally. For #2, she--like you--was due Tuesday (and I'm pretty sure there was no progress). Guess what? She had her baby boy yesterday! So, anything can happen!!

Labor vibes for you!!!!!!!

in my heart, i know this and dd and I have had so much fun this week...we went to the zoo, went shopping, relaxed, played, etc....but the other part of me is through having people bug me with random "just checking" phone calls and the pressure others put on me, plus my fear of a csection and lots of pain.....

I was induced when I was 8 days overdue and only a fingertip dilated. I had a very easy & realtively fast vaginal delivery.

Good luck!

I can't believe you're still here!

Induction with a second after a successful vaginal delivery with the first child, rarely ends in a C-section. That was according to my OB.

Go walk Tanger this weekend. That is what I did on the advice of another mommy. We both went into labor within a day. Good luck!

Where are you delivering?

My favorite was when a stranger would make a comment about how it looked like I was about to pop and then ask my due date and I would say "5 days ago"Chat Icon

I went 10 days past my due date and had a scheduled c/s. It wasn't too bad. Of course I have nothing to compare it to, but my DD is happy and healthy and so am I so I would say everything worked out fine.

Re: those who went past 40 weeks of pregnancy...

I had my 1st at 41 weeks. I always expected my second would be late, but not as late as he was! I cried the entire way to my 41w appointment because with my first, I went to the hospital instead of that appointment. We set up my induction for 42w & I was convinced I would still be pregnanct by induction day. It was all the more frustrating because I was trying for a VBAC which had a better chance of success with spontaneous labor. Well I ended up going into labor late that night (41w1d), but I had a 25 hour labor so he didn't finally make his arrival until 41w2d (but I did have a VBAC still)! It seems like Chat Icon was just really comfy!

Hang in there! I know it feels like everyday past your due date just crawls by! Chat Icon

I had to be induced both times - almost 42 weeks with DD and did it right before 41 weeks with DS. Even with the induction I never needed a c-section.

Re: those who went past 40 weeks of pregnancy...

I went past 41 weeks with no contractions or dilation. I opted for a scheduled c-section because DD was measuring big on sono, she is my first, and I didn't want to go through an induction only to end up with a c-section anyway. I am now 5 weeks PP and still recovering from the c-section. It is major surgery and the recovery is long and painful. If your OB will let you go to 42 weeks with regular sonos and biophysicals, that might be the way to go.

Re: those who went past 40 weeks of pregnancy...

I was induced 6 days past EDD. After failure to progress, I had a c-section.

DS was a scheduled repeat c-section.
