Those who work out

Is it ok to do abs or sit-ups? I didn't do any last time I remember my old dr saying no twisting but I am reading different things now and have some active friends who still do abs at 20 weeks!?

I think pregnancy Pilates is ok and will keep abs toned. It's good to do something bc it helps your back. I'm having back issues this time and need to strengthen.

With my last I was very active and took regular pilates classes until I was about 34 weeks. The instructor would give me modifications but not many.

I was working out regularly until I hit 6 weeks. I am exhausted, I just can't get there, and when I do, I am exhausted after. I have another child to take care of, so the workout ruins my energy level for the day. I am currently 8 weeks and hope I can get back into it sometime soon.

I'm 36 weeks today and have been doing crossfit 3-4x/week throughout my entire pregnancy. As far as abs go, I've heard differing opinions, but my crossfit instructors feel its safer that I avoid any sort of twisting. For the most part, I do the workouts the same as everyone else. I just avoid being inverted/upsidedown and avoid most ab work....although I can do planks and hanging knee tucks. No oblique twisting or standard crunches.

Sit ups are a no go. You should not be flat on your back for any exercise. Your blood flow is effected and it's pretty dangerous, regardless of how you feel.

I agree with no twisting and avoiding most strict abdominal work.
