Those with babies who are/were on Neocate..Starting solids ?

THose that had DC's on Neocate...

How did your PED go about starting DC on solids? Milk products like cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt? HOw did you test for reaction to it? Did they have any reactions to any solids?

My PED's won't start babies until 6 months old and I agree with it, but I am just curious to see what other moms did.

My DD has been on Neocate since 5 weeks old. We started cereal at 4 months and baby food at 5 months. She is now 7 1/2 months old. We haven't given her any "real" food yet. (cheese, yogurt etc.) We give her Gerber organic or earths best. She also has a soy protein allergy and we aren't sure she broke out of it now.
My ped. said there are tests that will be given to her at around 1 year. Until that we have to stay away from milk. HTH

We never started cheese or anything with milk in it. Other than that, the approach was the same as a non-milk allergic child. We tried around a year to give her milk products and she had such a bad diaper rash from it that it took her skin off

I have twins on neocate---they will be 9 months on the 14th. I just started giving them dairy.
I am trying to tell the difference if one has a reaction and one does not.
They both have had cold and swallow backdrip I guess...
One of them upchuck constantly....like a fountain.
I gave tiny pieces of cheese and yobaby yogurt.
try it for 3 days straight.
I def think max's reaction is more so the cold.
hmmm so I think...
but I def will not go fully to milk until one year.

By the time DD #1 was ready for milk, cheese and yogurt we knew the extent of her food allergies, and never touched it. We use Vegan products - She does well on them.
IMHO - If you think that your DD could have a problem with the milk protiens, I would have her tested in an allergists office. They can do the RAST skin test and then the IMUNOCAP bloodwork to see the severity (if any).... But I'm also a little extreme with these things just because of my DD's history.

Because of DD #1's food allergies I had DD #2 tested before I started food. Thank God I did because although her food allergies are not as extreme as DD #1... We have a list of foods to avoid.
