Those with DC's who needed glasses very young- before age 2
DS is 15 mths and he has been diagnosed very farsided and although he is outgrowing it his eye DR is probably going to be recommending glasses for him. They want to see him again in 4 mths and they will make the decision then bc he improved from his last visit. Anyway my question is how did your DC adjust with the glasses? Do they keep them on? Do they break easily? I know this sounds horrible but were you scared that the glasses would make them a target for being bullied? I know its for the best but I'm really nervous and upset about making him wear glasses I can't explain why I just am? Make sense?
My ped recommended getting two pairs so we have a back up but I don't know if my insurance is going to cover the 1st pair so I might have to pay for both out of pocket then ........major $$$$

Well, I didn't know cailen needed them until he was three, but had they discovered his eye issues before he would have needed them probably by one....
I was worried he would pull them off, but the thing is, he could see and he liked that! So he has no reason to take them off. They are comfortable on him....
As for bullying, absolutely not. I am in tons of schools and kids wear glasses and no one gets teased for wearing glasses. In my sons daycare there are tons of young kids with glasses, and the other kids don't notice. And grownups looooove babies with glasses. Cailen loved his glasses as soon as I put them on him, nit just because he can see, but because everyone around him went nuts over them.... Even strangers say they love his glasses.
I was sad because I thought it would change his face and his looks, but he looks so cute, I am over it!
Good luck! Cai is farsighted and has severe astigmatism, and has no vision in a part of his eye. We had no idea until he had a standard eye exam! I am an FM away!

Oh yeah, insurance doesn't cover glasses. They were insanely expensive. We lucked out, because cailen's glasses took so long to make that they gave us a free spare pair.
