Those with more then 1 child( Toy related)

Did you save the toys that DC number #1 outgrew for the next one?

For example./...I have things Noah is outgrowing like the FP learning House, Ride on toys etc and I wonder if I should pack them up and save them for the next one?

Is that what everyone does?
TIA!!

Re: Those with more then 1 child( Toy related)

That's what I plan to do. We keep everything in the basement once Lily is done with it.
I guess it depends on the space you have for storage.

I did originally pack everything up, but now I am going back and getting rid of someof the bigger toys. When I have baby #2 they will have b-days and holidays and every other reason that DS has to be spoiled by his grandparents and aunts and uncles and I just don't have the space.

Definately save them - my son has all my daughter's toys and we just added some trucks and more boyish things she didn't have

Save them! Nicholas has quite a few toys that Emma loves to play with that I'm glad I saved.

Yup, I was already knocked up and knew I would need them.

We have/are getting rid of a lot of stuff now. We're not really sure about #3 and I just don't have room to keep all this stuff.

I saved anything I didn't categorize as "junk". It's boxed up ready to be used again.

DD got a lot of DS's toys when she was a newborn, and now she *takes* a lot of DS's toys... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

They're only 3 years apart, so DW was PG with DD when DS was just over 2, so we didn't really have to store much stuff, just put it off to the side for a little while.

Re: Those with more then 1 child( Toy related)

If they are in good condition why get rid of them?

At the young age, the DC doesn't know any better if they are getting new toys or not.

Instead of getting the same or similar gifts as that one gets older, I would ask for money for his/her savings or college.

Some of the toys out there aren't cheap and I see it as a waste to toss it if it is still working and in good condition.

I would and will...we kept the boxes for most things and as he out grows them we have been packing them up and storing them in the basement. Once the last child outgrows things we will consider donating or selling.

ITA! Everything of Jack's is in great condition so I am saving it all for baby #2 someday - otherwise I would end up re-buying them again someday. The same toys have basically been out for a few years now.

yes...and when I brought them out for baby #2 again...my older son had fun playing with them again as if he saw them for the first time...

last week he was playing for an hour with the FP piano..

honestly my 10 month old is more interested in Antonio's Matchbox cars than the FP toysChat Icon

I did the same thing, except since mine are 14 months apart, they never got boxed upChat Icon

I just donated 2 huge bags of practically new toys again to a local daycare center.

I love getting rid of toys!! My girls still have presents from their birthdays they haven't opened yet, and lord help us when xmas comes...

Like everyone else said, I plan on keeping mine. All of DD's are in great condition. Any broken/gross ones I will toss though.

Re: Those with more then 1 child( Toy related)

i would definitely hold onto the toys. BUT i was just in BRU and looking through some magazines the other day looking at some of the old things the DS used to play with/in and OMG they have some cool new stuff and versions of the toys.

Shoot i saw a bouncy with a built in CD player or something like that. Chat Icon

But of course some of my DS toys are things that he just loved and i would try again with another baby.

I plan on keeping the majority of them....even though some of his ride on toys have been left outside...and dont look too hot...so maybe these will be replaced...
