your rear-facing child seat? Middle or Side? Which is safest? Do you use both the LATCH and tether? TIA!!

I don't think you're supposed to use the tether when it's rear facing. At least my carseat says that.

I had mine on the side with the tether to the floor around the base of the front seat. This was with a Britax Marathon.

I used the side, only because I couldn't use latch in the middle. Rear facing, I also used the tether. It anchors to the floor under the front seat in some cars.

You should not use the latch and seat belt though. One or the other. The rear tether is fine to use with either.

I think that the Britax seats are the only ones who use the tether rear facing.

My car only has the latch on the sides, so DD is on the passenger side. This is where the guy put it when we had it installed.

Middle for DS, side when we had DS and DD. We used the tether, but READ THE MANUAL!!!!! Most carseats cannot use the top tether rear-facing, and will cause serious harm if they are used. I think all the Britax ones are OK (at least the Boulevard is, since I read the manual, and was one of the reasons I bought it).

Middle is safest, since it has the most buffer in case of a side-impact collision. Passenger side is next safest, since you will be loading/unloading DC away from traffic, and not in the middle of traffic if you park on the side of the street.

Depends on the car - our car says to install it behind the passenger seat - we wanted to middle but both the manual and the instillation guy said for our SUV that the middle wasn't the safest b/c the seat should go behind the passenger. So check the car manual as well as ask the person who you get to check/install the seat.

Middle is safest, however with 2 car seats one on each side is safe as well. That is where each is.

I have 2 car seats so they are each on a side. I only use the latch - not the teether.

That's what the carseat guy did for DH's car. Side and tether. We have the Britax Decathlon.
