I grew up in Stony Brook, but don't live there anymore. I did a search and came up with this interesting article:Picking a Preschool in Three Village
My niece went to Playgroups and LOVED it.
I know people who went to North Shore Montessori School and also loved it.
The Laurel Hill School is super nice but very $$$

I live in Three Village and am looking at playgroups. Heard great things about it. Laurel Hill is an idea that I never thought of. We tried Imagination Preschool last year and it wasn't a good fit at all...(if any one has any questions FM and I will explain more). I had a niece who went to Montessori also and loved it.
